Thought I’d take advantage of the summer lull in
\ne-mails to let you know that “Around Town on the Web” has surpassed
\nthe one thousand mark for recipients! Thanks to all of you for your
\nsupport of our little volunteer community service project that was originally
\nfounded to help get the word out about the reconstituted school building
\ncommittee back in the spring of 2004. Six years, 60 million dollars, one
\nhuge lawsuit win, and a new high school (set to open just over a year from now!)
\nlater, I’d say that was a pretty cool ball to help start rolling. J <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
But, I sure never thought that my handful of e-mails in 2004
\nwould lead to this! With the help of my webmaster Mike Van Lare, we now
\naverage about one e-mail a day, maintain an archive that serves as an
\nelectronic file cabinet for all of Hanover, and reach over 1,000 Hanover
\nresidents with the click of a mouse. We’ve never advertised,
\nfundraised, or sold ad space. But, we sure have been a cog in the wheel of
\npositive change for our beloved small town.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
Remember, though, that you make it possible. You let us
\nknow when there are people in need, or non-profits hosting events, or big news
\nhere in town. We are only as good as the information we receive.
\nKeep it coming, and keep passing the word about getting on “the list”.
