North River&#8217;s water quality"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Dear fellow Hanoverians:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Some years this information is reported in the  news, other<br \/>\nyears either it is not, or perhaps I just miss it.&nbsp; Either way, it  is<br \/>\nnoteworthy for those of us who leave near and enjoy &#8220;our&#8221;  North<br \/>\nRiver.&nbsp; And since I had not seen it yet this year, I thought  I&#8217;d share it<br \/>\nwith all of you.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>The North and South River Watershed just released  their<br \/>\nlatest River Watch Water Quality Results.&nbsp; One of the testing sites  is at the<br \/>\nWashington Street Bridge at the Hanover\/Pembroke line.&nbsp; I was  disappointed to<br \/>\nread that our fecal coliform bacteria counts were too high for even  swimming (much<br \/>\nless for shellfish consumption or drinking water) on two out of the four<br \/>\ntesting dates, as follows:<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Test  date&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&amp;nb sp; Colonies per 100 mL of water<\/p>\n<p>June  3&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 120<\/p>\n<p>June  17&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&amp;nbsp ;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 400<\/p>\n<p>July  1&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; &nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; 93<\/p>\n<p>July  19&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&amp;nbsp ;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;
