The Hanover Historical Society is meeting on Tuesday,
\nSeptember 21st at the Phoenix Lodge at Hanover Four Corners.
\nSocial hour begins at 6:00 p.m., a roast pork dinner with all the trimmings is
\nat 7:00 p.m., and the program begins at 8:00 p.m. Former President of the
\nSociety Les Molyneaux will present his research on Dr. Lloyd Vernon
\nBriggs, author, historian and psychologist. Dr. Briggs summered in
\nHanover at Broad Oak Farm most of his life, and is the person responsible for
\nsaving the Stetson House in its current form. In 1927, he gave the house
\nto the Society for the Preservation of New England Antiquities (SPNEA – now
\ncalled Historic New England) and they maintained the property for 50
\nyears until the Town of Hanover purchased the house in 1978. Les has done
\na lot of research on Dr. Briggs, and we hope to have a good turnout for this
\nmeeting. Cost of the dinner is $15.00 payable at the door that evening,
\nbut reservations are necessary. Please contact Richard & Pauline
\nRockwell at 781-826-1689 to reserve. You may attend just the program
\nportion at 8:00 p.m. at no cost and with no reservation.<\/p>\n

On a separate, but related note, the Phoenix Lodge breakfast
\nscheduled for Sunday the 26th will be held from 8:00 a.m. –
\n12:00 noon. Sorry for the omission of the time in a previous e-mail.<\/p>\n
