The Hanover Cultural Council has
\nset an October 15, 2010 postmark deadline for organizations, schools and
\nindividuals to apply for grants that support cultural activities in the
\ncommunity. According to Council spokesperson Katie Duff, these grants can
\nsupport a variety of artistic projects and activities in Hanover — including
\nexhibits, festivals, short-term artist residencies or performances in schools,
\nworkshops and lectures. The Council will also entertain funding proposals from
\nschools and youth groups through the PASS Program, which provides subsidies for
\nschool-age children to attend cultural field trips. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
The Hanover Cultural Council is
\npart of a network of 329 Local Cultural Councils serving all 351 cities and
\ntowns in the Commonwealth. The LCC Program is the largest grassroots cultural
\nfunding network in the nation, supporting thousands of community-based projects
\nin the arts, sciences and humanities every year. The state legislature provides
\nan annual appropriation to the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency,
\nwhich then allocates funds to each community. <\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
This year, the Hanover Cultural
\nCouncil will distribute about $3,870.00 in grants. Previously funded projects
\ninclude: programs at the John Curtis Library such as their piano concerts, “Two
\nOld Friends”, and the Plimouth Plantation pass; “Christmas
\nSplendor”, a Harbor Choral Arts Society concert; outreach for Hanover
\nHigh School Music Department and more. <\/p>\n
