At each school in Hanover, a legislation-enabled School
\nCouncil consisting of parents, teachers, representatives of the community, and
\nadministrators meets approximately monthly during the school year. This
\nyear, Hanover High School’s School Council has an opening and is seeking
\nsomeone to fill the role of community representative. The community
\nrepresentative may be any Hanover resident who does not currently have children
\nattending the high school.<\/p>\n
<\/p>\n
School Councils are to assist principals
\nin:<\/p>\n
Adopting educational goals for the school that
\n are consistent with local educational policies and statewide student
\n performance standards
\n Identifying the educational needs of students
\n attending the school
\n Reviewing the annual school building budget
\n Formulating a school improvement plan<\/p>\n
In the case of the high school, the Council shall also
\nreview the student handbook each spring to consider changes in disciplinary
\npolicy to take effect for the following school year. <\/p>\n
