Description: Every parent dealing with special education
\nhas questions. For instance, one question might be, what is required
\nunder the law? What testing should be done and within what time frame?
\n What are my child’s rights? Popular and successful special
\neducation advocates, Maureen Finaldi and Carolyn Kain will try to answer your
\nquestions during this workshop. The presentation will cover federal and
\nstate laws related to special education. You will also learn about
\neligibility determination, various types of evaluations, optional assessments,
\ntimelines, independent evaluations and IEP development. Helpful resources
\nwill also be provided. <\/p>\n

\nMaureen is a trainer for the Federation for Children with Special Needs, Member
\nof Mass PAC, Council for Parent Advocates and Attorney’s (COPAA), and the
\nSpecial Needs Advocacy Network (SPAN).<\/p>\n
Carolyn Kain,
\nAttorney
\nCarolyn specializes in special education law. She is a trainer for
\nthe Federation for Children with Special Needs. She is also trained in
\nApplied Behavior Analysis (ABA) and in Picture Exchange Communication System
\n(PECS). <\/p>\n
