Hanover Garden Club’s Antiques Appraisal Event

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Hanover Garden Club is sponsoring an antiques appraisal event on
Saturday, April 7, from 12 noon to 4:00 p.m., at Riley Hall, Route 139, in
Hanover Center. Peter Smith, National Certified Appraiser and local radio
talk show host, along with Henry T. Callan, Margos Shirinian, and many
other members of a “Dream Team” of appraisers will be on hand to
provide verbal appraisals of antiques, memorabilia, family heirlooms,
keepsakes, and other objects of interest.

Have you ever wondered if you have genuine treasures among your family
heirlooms? Is Grandpa Harvey’s old mandolin valuable? Could Great Aunt
Edna’s looking glass be as priceless as your mother always suggested?
How about third cousin Calvin’s cricket bat that he left you? Maybe
you’re wondering if that corner chair you bought at a rummage sale is a
rare find. Is it unique or run-of-the-mill? Here’s your chance to find
the answers.

The fee will be $10.00 per item appraised, with proceeds benefiting the
civic and educational projects of the Hanover Garden Club. Club members
will be selling $10 appraisal tickets at Hanover’s John Curtis Library on
Wednesday mornings 10:00 a.m. – 12 noon, and at the Hanover Senior Center,
655 Center Street on Thursdays from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. For more information
or to purchase $10 appraisal tickets online, go to
www.hanovergardenclub.com. Tickets will also be available at the door.

This antiques appraisal event promises to be an afternoon of surprising
discovery, and, perhaps, good fortune! All are welcome to come, bring
those treasured items, and find out if they have more than sentimental
value.

For more information, please contact Ava Sigsby at ats@sigscom.com .

Town Manager search update

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The first three of four final interviews for our next Town Manager were
held Monday night. Attached please find the resumes, cover letters, and
essay questions for the first of the four finalists – Joseph Colangelo.
Stay tuned for the other three.

Of note is the absence of Anthony Marino from the remaining candidate pool,
Acting Town Manager, in the list of candidates to date. He sent the
following message to Town Hall employees on Monday:

“Good Afternoon,

I wanted to let everyone know, officially, that I have made the difficult
decision to accept the position of Town Manager in Ipswich, Ma. This was
not an easy decision for me because of the people that I have had the
pleasure to work with, and the amazing ten years that I have had working
here. I have truly enjoyed every day that I had the pleasure of coming to
work in Hanover.

The opportunity and new adventure in Ipswich is a great career move for my
family and me, but I will miss my Hanover friends. My last day will be
April 20, 2018, I will be working on Town Meeting prep and finalizing the
budget with the Board of Selectmen and Advisory before I leave.

Thank you for all of your hard work in making Hanover a great place to live
and work!

Anthony Marino”

So, a new chapter for the Town of Hanover begins. Check out the attached
resume and stay tuned for the other three – we’ve exceeded the storage
limits and so we have to spread the information out over multiple e-mails..
The final interview for Ron San Angelo is Thursday, March 15th at 7:00
p.m. at Town Hall.
