Town Meeting ends in one night – on to the Election!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Town Meeting began and finished in one night Monday night, May 7th.
A healthy debate of the $60 million budget was the biggest ticket of the
night, and rousing support for the hard-working Build-the-Boards Committee
ended with a $110,000 appropriation for that venture.

I as your Town Clerk was humbled and thankful for your support of my salary
raise as requested under an amendment to Article 7, and for your “no” vote
on the recommendation to make my position appointed this year. The debate
around that issue as we strive to make our government more effective will
surely continue, and I for one, as a student of government, will welcome
that dialogue. I’ll be delighted to partner with our new Town Manager, Joe
Colangelo, as his first weeks and months in office unfold, towards those
ends.

We bought police cruisers, dump trucks, and generators, amended our
by-laws, and revised the Town Manager Act – all under the expert direction
and skilled management of our Town Moderator, Doug Thomson. It was a busy
and productive evening, and we adjourned until the Annual Town Election on
Saturday, May 12th. The polls will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 6:00 p.m.; see
you then!

Re-sending Delaney and Anderson

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

On or around April 24-25, “Around Town on the Web” (ATOTW) experienced some
technical problems that caused some of you to not receive the attached
documents.

In an effort to level the playing field prior to Election Day, we are
re-sending the two candidate profiles that were sent out those two days.

Attached please find candidate information for David Delaney, candidate for
re-election to the Board of Selectmen, and Mark Anderson, one of the
challengers.

Apologies to those who have previously received these two profiles. Just
press delete! For those who are just getting these for the first time,
apologies for the delay! All previously sent ATOTW candidate profiles (and
all other ATOTW e-mails for that matter) may be found in our archives,
which is found here: https://atotw.com/archive/ .

Brian Barthelmes’ profile was sent successfully approximately April 30th.
We are still waiting for candidate profiles from challengers Daniel
Pallotta and John Barry, plus candidate profiles from the contested
Planning Board race – Matthew Tocchio and Meaghan Dunne. John Geary sent
in his profile even though he is running unopposed for one of the School
Committee seats, and we were happy to pass it along. We’ve not heard from
the other uncontested candidates to date.

In the meantime, we hope you find this helpful!
