The awards reception for Just for Teens, a juried art exhibit, is this
Friday, September 15, from 5:30 p.m. – 7:00 p.m.! Please join the Friends
of the John Curtis Library at the library to celebrate the 2 & 3D works of
Hanover’s talented teens. 25 pieces are currently on display through
September 30 in the large room, downstairs at the library.

Light refreshments will be served. This show is sponsored by the Friends of
the John Curtis Free Library and supported in part by a grant from the

September 18, 2017 from 5:00 p.m. – 7:00 p.m. at the library for a
special celebration!

Meet and chat with the new director, Dana Mastroianni;

share in the unveiling of the illuminated case given by the Friends of the
Library and the Hanover Cultural Council that will house a rare collection
of Japanese watermark papers presented to the library by Thomas Tindale;

and view the permanent installation of the historic Hanover quilt given to
the library by the family of Barbara Barker Kemp.

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Senior Girl Scout Troop 80337 is collecting your used eclipse
glasses for Astronomers Without Borders. The glasses will be inspected for
safety and then distributed to schools across Asia and South America in
time for the 2019 solar eclipse that will be visible there. Donation bins
will be available at the John Curtis Free Library, downstairs at Town Hall,
HMS, Cedar and Center Schools until the end of September. Thank you very
much for your donation!

Emergency Preparedness Begins at Home (light lunch to follow at 12 noon)

When: Tuesday, September 19 at 11:00 a.m.

Where: Hanover Senior Center, 665 Center Street

Disaster can strike at any time, so it’s important to have a planned
response when you’re at home, work, on vacation or on the road.

Join the good folks at the Senior Center as Dawn Sibor presents an
“Emergency Preparedness Begins at Home” program for elders. This is an
interactive presentation and demonstration with information, tools and
resources for elders. She has done this previously in Hanover as well as
other communities multiple times per year. She has done these trainings
for those with low vision, elders, those who live in public senior and
community housing, supportive living communities and for many other
residents. Pizza and salad will be served and Dawn will have some free
emergency supplies to hand out. To reserve your spot, please call
781-924-1913 or email: Teresa.slight@hanover-ma.gov by September 12.

The Hanover Club cordially invites you to their annual Welcome Back Social.

The event is on Friday, September 8, 2017 at 7:30 p.m. at Caitlin
O’Connor’s home, 149 Main Street, Hanover. For further details on the event

The Hanover Club is a women’s community service and social club. The
members of the club provide direct service to our community by providing
meals for new moms, costumes to homeless children, and gift cards and toys
to local families during the holidays. The club also sponsors the St.
Patrick’s Day Luncheon at the Hanover Senior Center, and numerous food
pantry drives. The club has playgroups, moms and tots events, a book club,
family activities, a gift show, and many other activities throughout the
year for its members.

The Hanover Club develops life long friendships while giving back to the
Hanover community.

As summer is sadly winding down, Hanover SNAP is excited to bring the town
of Hanover its second year of SNAP recreational activities!

Hanover SNAP is an independent nonprofit organization striving to provide a
variety of athletic and recreational opportunities to children and young
adults with different abilities and special needs. Hanover SNAP volunteers,
peer mentors and coaches work together to provide an inclusive, positive
social environment for all participants with the goal to foster true
friendships while encouraging growth and development. To learn more about

The Hanover SNAP website calendar is up to date and includes information on
registration, training and dates for the entire 2017-2018 season.

FOR PARTICIPANTS:
Registration for the SNAP FALL SOCCER season is now OPEN!!! Fall soccer
will run on Saturday afternoons at Forge Pond Park beginning September 23
through November 4th, excluding Columbus Day Weekend.
Please head to the Hanover SNAP website to register your child as a
participant as soon as possible! Registration closes September 1st so
please register ASAP!
Please note: ALL FAMILIES must register as NEW PARTICIPANTS at the start
of each new year in order to collect the most up to date information to
best support all participants!
