Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover residents Allison Taylor and her husband Chris sent along the
following information. They are reaching out on behalf of their daughter.
Ella is a rising eighth grader. You may have seen her on the fields at
Forge Pond, walking with her Daisy Troop in the Memorial Day parade,
performing in the annual nativity play at the First Congregational Church
or reading in the window seat at the library.

They are seeking our communities support in getting an autism assistance
dog for Ella. After an exhaustive search, they chose to collaborate with
Little Angels Service Dogs based on their adherence to high training
standards, track record, and testimonials. Each dog’s training is
personalized to help their individual handlers needs and every dollar
donated goes directly to the training and placement of service dogs.

Ella has completed the rigorous approval process, and the family is now
transitioning to the fundraising stage. Families are responsible for
fundraising so that monies raised go directly to connecting dogs with
participants rather than supporting a fundraising staff. They are looking
to the community to help Ella reach her fundraising goal of $30,000. It is
humbling to ask for help, but they sadly are not able to reach this goal on
their own. As a result, they are reaching out in the hopes that you share
this post, post the attached flyer and/or donate today to help Ella achieve
her life changing goal.

“MAKE A DIFFERENCE IN A CHILD’S LIFE
Little Angels Service Dogs have approved our daughter Ella. These dogs are
trained to perform medical alert, deep pressure therapy, and non-protective
boundary control which will be life-changing and lead to improved quality
of life and independence for Ella.
Autism is a neurological and developmental disorder that affects how people
interact with others, communicate, and learn. Ella describes it as
“Feeling anxious all the time”, “continuous sensory overload”,
“feeling misunderstood or unheard”, “pretending to be okay is
exhausting”. Having a Service Dog will change everything for Ella. Please
help us make this a reality.
Little Angels Service Dogs is a 501c3 nonprofit and an International (ADI)
accredited organization which means they rely 100% on donations from people
like you.

Fraternities extend an invitation to share an hour of Prayer at the
Portiuncula Chapel, Saturday, July 13, 2024, 7:00 – 8:00 p.m., to celebrate
the Third Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima. Hear a talk on the Third
Apparition followed by a Rosary Procession on the grounds of the
Portiuncula Chapel (weather permitting).

Come together to offer thanks and praise to Our Lady, “Queen of the
Angels;” bring a message of hope and peace to those in need of the Lord’s
mercy through this special devotion. As Our Lady promised us at Fatima,
“I will never forsake you, I will not abandon you. My Immaculate Heart
will always be your refuge, your consolation, and the way that will lead
you to God.”

Prayer intentions for July are for all those who served or are serving in
the Military, for World Peace, for the Missions of the World, and for the

Summer Walk
Saturday, July 6, 9:30 a.m.

Join the Open Space Committee for a summer walk at Chapman’s Landing.

Meet at the boat launch parking area at the end of Indian Head Drive on
Saturday, July 6th at 9:30 a.m. The group will walk the loop around
Chapman’s Landing to the North River viewing platform, then back to the
boat launch via the Iron Mine Brook trail. Total distance is about 1.5
miles. The trail is flat, but can be muddy, so please wear appropriate
footwear. Bring water. Bug spray is also suggested.
Enjoy this beautiful trail at the intersection of the Indian Head and North
Rivers!

Revolutionary War Graves in Hanover’s Center Cemetery

Saturday, July 6th, 2024, 1:00 p.m.

Meet at the Center Cemetery entrance near the First Congregational Church.

There were more than 180 men from Hanover who served during the American
Revolutionary War. Among the graves are those of officers and enlisted men,
the commander of the 2nd Massachusetts Regiment for five years, a minister
who served as chaplain, a quartermaster, a surgeon, and common soldiers who
were White, Native American, and African American. The Hanover Historical
Society will lead a tour of the graves of Revolutionary War veterans in
Hanover’s Center Cemetery. The tour will last one hour and will happen rain
or shine.

This tour is sponsored by grant from the Massachusetts Society of the
Cincinnati.

Fraternities extend an invitation to pray together the Sacred Heart
Devotions, which include Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed
Sacrament, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, recitation of the Rosary, and, if time
permits, the Stations of the Cross. Also, take the opportunity to go to
the Sacrament of Reconciliation with Fr. Mike McNamara on Chapel grounds
from 3:15 – 5:00 p.m.

The prayer intentions for July are for Military/World Peace, and for
Martyrs and those who are persecuted, and for the Missions of the World.
All are most welcome to join us to pray for your needs and intentions.

Historic Carriages and Wagons Display
The Historical Society’s collection of historic carriages and wagons will
be on display featuring the restored Surrey Carriage, Doctor’s Buggy,
Fire Wagon, and Hay Wagon. The display will be on the grounds of the
Stetson House.

Colonial Crafts and Games
Try your hand at traditional early American crafts, toys and games like
writing with a quill pen, nine pins, wooden tops, hoop rolling, graces and
more. These family friendly activities will take place at the Stetson House
Barn and Cobbler’s Shop.

Revolutionary War Encampment
Members of Bailey’s 2nd Massachusetts Regiment reenactor group will be
setting up a military encampment showing life during the American
Revolutionary war. Explore cooking demonstrations, life in camp, military
drills, and more.

Volunteers are needed and welcome to join them for Hanover Day!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

With the kids out of school and the Friday night Music Fest and Hanover Day
line-ups having been announced, the excitement for Hanover Day is becoming
palpable!

Hanover Day is held at B. Everett Hall Playground, next to Sylvester
School, in the center of town. Please see the attached map with the layout
of the venue! Parking is very limited at that address, 495 Hanover Street,
and the classic cars will already be parked there. So, it’s time to plan
your parking strategy.

First, as a reminder, the senior citizen van shuttle begins at 10:00 a.m.
and picks up seniors who are parked at the COA, or residing at Legion,
Barstow, or Cushing housing complexes. See the ATOTW archives for more
details on the van shuttle.

Please note there will be no parking available on Hanover Street or Main
Street. Parking is also not allowed in the Hanover Cemetery or at Center
School. Be sure to follow the Police/DPW posted ‘No Parking’ signs as these
restrictions will be strictly enforced. Lighted signs will direct you to
parking areas in the center of town as evening falls.

Parking for Daytime Events:
Parking is available in town lots including Town Hall, the Council on Aging
and the John Curtis Library, and also Riley Hall and Briggs Stables (enter
at the Briggs’ Main Street Entrance).

Parking for Evening Events:
Hanover Day volunteers are expecting a very large turnout, particularly
Saturday evening for the fireworks. Please plan your arrival accordingly as
there is limited parking in Hanover Center. Below is a list of approved
parking areas for the evening events. Volunteers are thankful to the local
businesses who have made their parking lots available for the event. Please
do not park on residents’ private property and please clean up any trash
that you have so that B. Everett Hall playground and parking lots will be
left clean and neat. Police will be on site to direct traffic.
Saturday Night Parking is available at:
• Hanover Town Hall and the John Curtis Library – 550 and 534 Hanover
Street
• Briggs Stables – Main Street entrance – gates will be open with police
directing traffic
• Riley Hall – 17 Silver Street
• Silver Street – Southbound side only
