Computer and laptop donation drive

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Back in February I met a delightful young Eagle Scout prospect from Troop
38 who is doing a pretty cool project at the Transfer Station this coming
weekend. Given my recent computer struggles, his timing could not be
better as far as I am concerned! :) Please join me in supporting Daniel
Loura’s Eagle Project Drive, as follows:

This Saturday and Sunday March 18th and 19th, 8:00 a.m. – 4:30 p.m.: Eagle
Scout Project!
Computer and laptop donation drive at the Hanover Transfer Station. Donate
your old laptops and desktops and they’ll turn them useful into working
units for cancer patients in need at Dana Farber and other cancer units
throughout the country.

For more information, please contact Scoutmaster Gary Martin at
garymartin66@icloud.com .

Meet motivational speaker Noelle Lambert with HFEE

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Hanover Foundation for Educational Enrichment (HFEE) is pleased to
announce they will be hosting a motivational speaker event as follows:
MEET NOELLE LAMBERT. THURSDAY MARCH 16, 2023, HANOVER HIGH SCHOOL AT 6:30
p.m.

This event – promising to be a night to be remembered – is sponsored by the
Hanover Foundation for Educational Enrichment (HFEE) with funds that were
donated in memory of Michael Landolfi. A moped accident in 2016 on
Martha’s Vineyard changed Noelle Lambert’s life. The Division 1
lacrosse athlete and scholar at UMass Lowell is now a motivational speaker,
Team USA athlete and a member of the Paralympic team. If you are a fan of
Survivor, you would have seen Noelle in Season 43 where she was a fierce
competitor. Noelle continues to help others by sharing her story. Learn
about ‘THE BORN TO RUN FOUNDATION’ where Noelle is “determined to
spread the message of hope, determination and perseverance” by helping
young amputees obtain prostheses. Please join HFEE on March 16th to give a
warm welcome to Noelle Lambert who has friends and family from the Hanover
area.

For more information, please see the attached flyer or e-mail
hanoverfoundation@gmail.com .

Outdoor Skills Fest and some reminders

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

You may remember that about a week ago I was lamenting the lost opportunity
to promote some cool events in Hanover due to my personal computer being
out of commission. Well, Hanover’s Scouts thoughtfully RESCHEDULED one
of their best events just so that word could be spread on Around Town on
the Web! Wow! Here are the details (and a reminder about a couple of
previously mentioned events):

Stop by Hanover’s Outdoor Scout Skills Fest at the Hanover YMCA Saturday,
March 4th – 12-1:30 p.m. Meet leaders and Scouts and see what the Scouting
buzz is all about!
See outdoor cooking demo, a winter campsite model, ropes and lashing
structures, survival skills, first aid skills, games, a compass course, and
more.
Boys AND girls of Hanover, they’d love for you to join them and start
YOUR Trail to Eagle!
Scouts BSA Troop 38: Boys ages 10 to 18
Scouts BSA Troop 1: Girls ages 10 to 18
Venture Crew 38: Co-Ed ages 14 to 21

Reminders about some upcoming events to consider attending:
February 28th, March 7th and 14th – 5:00 p.m. – 6:00 p.m.: Reptile and
Amphibian Merit Badge at SS Natural Science Center. All welcome!
March 5th – 12 noon – 3:00 p.m. (please note the time correction):
2.5-mile Beginner Hike to Gurnet Lighthouse – Join Troop 38 on their first
hike of the season. Get a unique glimpse of the Gurnet Lighthouse and

Walnut Hill Garden Club Open Meeting on Hydrangeas

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Do you love hydrangeas? If yes, please join the Walnut Hill Garden Club at
their next club meeting on Tuesday, March 7th at 7:15 p.m. at the Phoenix
Lodge, 133 Broadway, when the group will learn from Kathie Skinner,
Lifetime Master Gardener, the key points that gardeners should consider
before they invest in a hydrangea.

With over 600 cultivars to select from, it’s easy to select a plant based
on some attributes only to find that it will not be the “right plant in
the right place.” The seven species are identified, examples of each are
provided, and their best use in the landscape.

Space is limited so to reserve a spot, please email Audrey Barresi at
audbarresi@aol.com , or Tiz Polizio at tiz.poliz@gmail.com .
