2020 dog licenses are now available on-line, by mail, or in the Town Clerk’s Office

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced today that 2020 Town
of Hanover dog licenses are now available on-line, by mail, or in the
Hanover Town Clerk’s Office. The licensing period is January 1, 2020 –
March 31, 2020, and a $10 late fee applies beginning April 1, 2020. All
dogs over the age of 6 months are required by law to be licensed. The
license is good for one year, and costs $10 for spayed or neutered dogs,
and $15 for intact dogs. Residents over the age of 70 will be given a free
license for their vaccinated dog upon proof of the owner’s age.
In an effort to make this process easy for residents, there are several
ways to license your dog.

• Most folks who have licensed their dogs in the past won’t yet have a
GoPetie (Hanover’s new dog license software) account, but it’s easy to
visit

and retrieve your pet’s information and establish your account. Enter
your first and last names, house number, and select a street name from the
drop down menu. The answers must match with what you already have in the
system so that you don’t create a duplicate record or have to re-enter
the existing dog information. When matched, the system will show your
pet(s) name(s) and will ask you to confirm. After confirmation, you will
be asked to enter an email address, create a password, and then you will be
taken to your account where you can update any info needed, pay the fee(s)
and submit the license application for review.

• Residents may also fill out the dog license application that is found
on the Town Clerk’s section of the Town of Hanover’s website at:
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=ex3LmxUs+sCvXhrXoK/RWXj9+cO/jjcytMGuj7xWATRoqLt7nDMoRqoN783ZLADJ
. This is the same application that was included in the census mailing
this year. Completed forms may be mailed in with your payment, proof of
current rabies vaccination and proof of spaying or neutering (if you have
not submitted that information previously) to: Town Clerk’s Office, 550
Hanover Street, Hanover, MA 02339, and your tag will be mailed back to
you.

• As has always been the case, dog licenses may also be obtained in
person at the Town Clerk’s Office during normal business hours. Please
bring the same paperwork – current rabies vaccination, proof of
spaying/neutering if you have not submitted that information previously,
and your cash or check payable to the Town of Hanover.

Unlicensed dogs are subject to a minimum of a $25 fine, with an additional
$25 fine if unleashed and another fine of $50 if unvaccinated for rabies.
Don’t delay; get your dog’s license today!

If you have questions or need more information about the licensing of your
dog in Hanover, please call the Town Clerk’s Office at (781) 826-5000
x1079 or e-mail catherine.harderbernier@hanover-ma.gov or
meg.pallotta@hanover-ma.gov . Kennel owners are encouraged to call or stop
in also, as their licensing process requires an inspection and other
additional paperwork.
