This presentation will highlight:
. Symptoms and characteristics of APD
. The diagnostic process
. The functional impact of APD
. Suggestions for providing modifications and accommodations within a
variety of environments
Melanie Austin, MS, CCC-SLP is the director of speech services at South
Shore Therapies in both Weymouth and Pembroke. She has worked in outpatient
pediatric treatment settings for many years and has provided services to
children with a wide variety of diagnoses including autism spectrum
disorder, childhood apraxia of speech, stuttering, pragmatic language
disorders, auditory processing disorders, and other learning disabilities.
Melanie has frequently lectured on an array of speech and language topics
for parents, health care professionals and school programs such as Child
Care Choices of Boston, Community Care for Kids, and various other parent
advisory councils. She regularly participates in the South Shore Therapies
lecture series.
