“Albert White Barn” slide presentation

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Friends of the Stetson House will host a slide presentation by
Steven O’Shaughnessy on Wednesday, August 31st at 7:00 p.m. at the
John Curtis Library large meeting room.

Steven O’Shaughnessy is the Department Head of Preservation Carpentry
of the renowned North Bennet Street School. Mr. O’Shaughnessy oversaw
the dismantling and labeling of the “Albert White Barn” with the help
of his students. He will discuss the barn, its historic significance
and address questions from the audience.

The Friends of the Stetson House have been exploring possibly moving
the dismantled “Albert White Barn” to the Stetson House property. The
historic barn was part of the 645 Center Street property purchased by
the town at the recommendation of the Community Preservation Committee
at town meeting four years ago. It is believed this historic barn was
originally built in the late 1700’s to very early 1800’s and that only
ten such barns still exist in the United States. Currently the barn is
being stored in a trailer and all sections of the barn have been
labeled and marked by the North Bennet Street School for the benefit
of Hanover.

Anyone interested in attending is welcome. Further info can be
obtained by contacting John O’Leary, 781-982-9140 or at
