Dear fellow Hanoverians:
Below please find some of the currently proposed school budget cuts
for 2012-2013. Please understand that this list is not final or
complete; the School Committee will be voting on the final FY ’13
budget on January 4, 2012. These are the items that are currently
under consideration:
*Center Sylvester Elementary CUTS of $85,000*
Assistant Principal reduction in days
.2 of a Music Teacher (as of 12/21, this may no longer be considered)
.2 of an Art Teacher (as of 12/21, this may no longer be considered)
.2 of a Reading Specialist
1.0 of a Reading Specialist
*Cedar Elementary CUTS of $80,000*
.2 of a Music Teacher
.2 of an Informational Technology Teacher
.2 of a Reading Specialist
1.0 of a Reading Specialist
*Middle School CUTS of $210,000*
1.0 of Grade 5 Teacher
1.0 of Grade 6 Teacher
1.0 of a Grade 7 Social Studies Teacher
1.0 of a Grade 8 Social Studies Teacher
Both Assistant Principals unpaid leave for 10 days
*High School CUTS of $202,000*
.5 of a Secretary
.4 of the Athletic Director
1.0 of a Spanish Teacher
1.0 of an Engineering Teacher
.8 of a Chemistry Teacher
*District Level CUTS of $429,000*
.70 of a Secretary = $31,000
Athletic Fund = $39,000
Athletic Revolving Fund = $10,000
Special Education Transportation = $9,000
Cedar Preschool Revolving Fund = $10,000
Retirement Savings = $27,000
Circuit Breaker = $240,000
No Administration or District pay increases = $25,000
.50 Food Services (will be self funded) = $38,000
*Total proposed cuts to date: $1,037,000*
*Total proposed additions to budget to date: $185,000*
*Net total reductions to date: $852,000*
At this evening’s School Committee meeting, the School Committee
will be asked to review additional budget issues related to
technology, facilities, utilities, transportation, food service,
maintenance, etc.
Again, the final budget will be voted upon by the School Committee at
