HHS library volunteers needed

Dear fellow Hanoverians:
*Volunteer Your Time After School in the Hanover High School Library!*
The Hanover PTA is looking for volunteers that will volunteer just a
few hours of their time, from 2:00 p.m. – 4:00 p.m., on any day,
Monday through Thursday, to supervise students at the Hanover High
School Library after school. Students will not be allowed to check out
books or materials, but rather will have access to the book
collections and the computers, and have a quiet place to meet and
study afterschool until 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursdays.
In the past, the library closed at the end of the school day and
therefore had been unavailable to students seeking a quiet place to do
homework or research. Then, last year, the HPTA helped to put together
a group of volunteers that monitored the library in order to keep it
open for a few hours after school. The program was very well received
by students and widely used; hundreds of students took advantage of a
great opportunity. So the HPTA and the After School Library group
would like to continue it again in the 2012-2013 school year and they
are seeking more volunteers to help cover all the shifts.
The task is very easy; volunteers sit at the main desk and maintain
adult supervision in the library. They are free to read and/or work on
the computer, then simply shut the lights off and lock the doors at
4:00 p.m. Volunteers are asked to work from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. once a
week, once a month or any schedule that works for them. They’d just
like to ensure every slot is covered and that they never have to close
the library Mondays through Thursdays until 4:00 p.m. throughout the
school year.
If you’re interested in helping out and volunteering either one day or
several, please contact:
