Update from the Hanover Food Pantry

Dear fellow Hanoverians:
The following e-mail update comes directly from the good folks at the
Hanover Food Pantry. Please especially note the temporary change in
the hours due to the holidays.
“What a busy season we are having at the pantry! It is marvelous
that we are able to keep up with food demands since our town has such
amazing citizens who are willing to share and take care of our needs.
Ever since the Around-the-Town e-mail call went out in September
stating that the shelves were emptying out as fast as they were
stocked, we have been very busy taking in all kind of contributions.
Groups, schools, scouts, sports teams, civic organizations, churches,
clubs, private citizens and more have all come forward to donate
either money, collected food, gift cards or their time to help the
pantry. Shaw’s has had a special collection throughout the fall, and
Stop and Shop has been working with us by donating surplus goods.
Panera day-old breads are donated weekly as are baked goods from
Lillian M’s. Our clients love these treats and look forward to the
tableful of breads, muffins, bagels, cakes and cookies.
The need for services at the pantry has increased greatly over the
past two months. Last week we helped feed 21 families and this
Wednesday we had 32. Luckily, we were able to fill everyone’s
requests and send them home with bags of groceries. We are grateful,
and thank everyone in town for answering our need. It gives all of the
volunteers at the pantry great pleasure to fill the need.
We are changing our hours for the next two weeks as the holidays fall
on Tuesdays. Below are the changes and we will return to our normal
schedule afterwards.
The pantry will be closed for ingathering on Monday, December 24, and
closed for distribution, Wednesday, December 26.
We will open on Friday, December 28th, for ingathering from 9:30 –
11:30 a.m., and distribution from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.

We are sorry for any inconvenience this may cause but as we are
staffed entirely by volunteers, we felt it best to give our staff a
much needed holiday break.
We will have the same schedule for the New Year’s holiday as well.
The pantry will be closed for ingathering on Monday, December 31, and
closed for distribution, Wednesday, January 2, 2013.
We will open on Friday, January 4, for ingathering from 9:30 – 11:30
a.m., and distribution from 12:30 – 2:30 p.m.
If anyone wanted to drop off a contribution next Monday, please wait
until Friday, December 28, or mail contributions to:
Hanover Emergency Food Pantry
c/o The First Baptist Church
58 Webster Street
Hanover, MA 02339

If you have further questions about the food pantry or this change in
hours, please e-mail Sally at kidsense@comcast.net

. We wish everyone a safe and happy holiday season and thank you to
everyone.
Sincerely,
Barbara Itz and Sally Lovett Boutin, Pantry Co-Chairs”
