Hanover teams victorious this weekend…look out Holliston!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Please join me in congratulating the Hanover High School varsity field
hockey team on their South Sectional State Tournament quarter-final win
against Dover-Sherborn this afternoon! The girls played an excellent game
and won 2-1 in the second overtime period. The first goal was scored by
Hanover’s Abby Hammett in the first half, but D-S came back to tie it 1-1
in the second half. At the end of regulation play, the game remained tied.
One fifteen minute overtime “sudden victory” period was played with both
teams down to 7 players per side, and the score remained tied. During the
second fifteen minute overtime, Hanover’s Samantha Taylor put the ball in
the net for the victory.

Hanover field hockey plays Holliston at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday at Hanover.

And, in case you missed it Friday night, the Hanover High School boys
varsity football team also won in a heart-stopping semi-final game against
Foxboro by a score of 21-20. They will face…yes, you guessed it,
Holliston in the South Division 4 Finals on Friday at 7:00 p.m. in
Holliston. Holliston beat Middleboro also by one point last weekend.

I am missing my ace soccer reporter Geoff Hoffman this year, and would
gladly report on the soccer and volleyball state tournament teams if anyone
could write up a quick report. Please send it to cathyhb@atotw.com .
