Dear fellow Hanoverians:
Hanover Special Town Meeting voted a resounding yes on both the Zoning and
General By-Law questions regarding banning recreational marijuana sales
this evening/Monday.
With a larger-than-expected 319 people in attendance a week before
Christmas and in the middle of Hanukkah, it was clear that Hanover voters
felt strongly about banning recreational marijuana sales within our borders
– even despite the busy time of year. The Zoning Article needed a 2/3
majority to pass, which it did with only a few nays. The 2/3 majority was
called by the Moderator without needing to count and without standing
objection. The General Bylaw only needed a simple majority, which it
received easily.
Thanks to all who took time out of their busy lives to participate in our
great democracy!
