On Thursday, April 4, Remember the “Big Dig.”Archaeologist, Joseph
Bagley, author of A History of Boston in 50 Artifacts tells the story about
the Big Dig and what we retrieved from it. History is right under our feet;
we just need to dig a little to find it. Boston’s Big Dig has contributed
more to our understanding of our state’s capital than any other recent
event. The author uncovers a fascinating hodgepodge of “stuff” from
ancient fishing grounds to Jazz Age red-light districts that will surprise
everyone. Slideshow by the author.
On Thursday, April 25, Andre Dubus III will talk about his most recent book
in ten years, Gone So Long. Few writers can evoke the lives of their
characters as viscerally as Andre Dubus III. In this compelling novel, a
father estranged for the worst of reasons is driven to seek out the
daughter he has not seen in decades. Andre also authored The House of Sand
and Fog.
