The Spirit of Hanover Community Service Award Committee is pleased to
announce that the 2019 Spirit of Hanover Community Service Award recipient
Leslie J. Molyneaux will be honored at a reception to be held on Sunday,
April 28th, 2019. The community is invited to attend. Please join the
Spirit of Hanover Community Service Award Committee, Les, and his friends
for this reception in Les’ honor at the Hanover Senior Center, located at
665 Center Street in Hanover from 1:00 p.m. – 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, April
28th, 2019. A light luncheon will be served.
Long-time residents will remember Les as a teacher at Hanover High and
Hanover Middle School from 1967 – 2002. During that same time, he also
found time to be a licensed Real Estate Broker, own the North River
Antiques Center, and serve on several committees in town. Les was a member
of the Hanover Conservation Commission for 13 years, and a member and chair
of the Hanover Board of Health for 12 years during that time. He also
served as a member and chair of the Hanover Health Insurance Advisory
Committee, and still serves as an Election Worker.
After he retired from the Hanover Public Schools, Les went on to serve on
the Hanover School Committee, the Hanover School Building Committee, and
the Hanover Community Access and Media Committee. More recently, he became
a member of the Hanover Council on Aging Advisory Committee.
An active member of the Republican Town Committee since 1976, Les is also a
recognized expert local historian. He has been an integral part of both
the Hanson and Hanover Historical Societies, serving the Hanover Society as
President for 11 years and Director for 14 years. Additionally, he served
as a Director of the Friends of the Stetson House, and is a life member of
the Marshfield, Scituate, and Abington Historical Societies. An
accomplished author, Les co-wrote “Images of America, Hanover MA” with
Barbara Barker, and recently published his own “Thomas Drew’s South
Shore”.
The Spirit of Hanover Community Service Award is presented to an individual
who best exemplifies the spirit of Hanover by voluntarily giving selflessly
of their time, energy and talent to the Town and its citizens thus
enriching our lives, fostering a true sense of community and inspiring us
all to a higher level of service.
Past recipients of the Award include Mrs. Virginia Szejnar, Mrs. Barbara
Barker (-Kemp), Mr. Richard “Dick” Eaton, Mrs. Jean Migre, Mrs. Lois
Van Doren, Mr. John Thomson, Mrs. Barbara Itz, Ms. Catherine
Harder-Bernier, Mrs. Joanne B. Cure, Mr. Harold (Hal) D. Thomas, Mr. Roger
A. Leslie, Sr., Mrs. Judy Grecco, Mr. James Gallant, and Mr. Ray Miller.
Receipt of the Award is commemorated by this reception and by having the
recipient’s name inscribed on a perpetual plaque which is prominently
displayed in the foyer of the Town Hall. Please join the community of
Hanover at the reception on Sunday, April 28th, 2019.
