Memorial Day Observances

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

With the recent lifting of some of the COVID-19 restrictions in
Massachusetts effective May 29, 2021, I am delighted to report that the
Town of Hanover is going to honor our town’s and country’s veterans at a
Memorial Day Parade this coming Monday, May 31st.

The parade will begin at 10:30 a.m. (yes, later than the previous usual
10:00 a.m. start time). Veterans will lead the way with a few
representatives from the Hanover Police and Fire Departments, along with
the scouts and some antique cars. The parade will follow the usual route –
leaving from St. Mary’s Parish Hall, up Hanover Street (Route 139) and
onward to the Hanover Center Cemetery, with stops at the Civil War canons,
Hanover Town Hall, Sylvester School, and ending back at the newest
Veteran’s Memorial in the front of B. Everett Hall Field.

Then, immediately following the parade and at approximately 11:30 a.m., a
ceremony honoring our veterans will be held at the Veteran’s Memorial. And
finally, there will be a picnic at Forge Pond Park from 1:00 p.m. – 7:00
p.m. complete with food trucks and live music.
