Special and Annual Town Meetings begin May 2

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

It’s that time of the year again! The Special and Annual Town Meeting
warrants have been posted and it’s time to read up on all that will happen
beginning Monday, May 2nd at the two meetings. The Special Town Meeting
begins at 7:00 p.m. and the Annual Town Meeting begins at 7:30 p.m. that
night. Both meetings will be held at Hanover High School. If the Annual
Meeting runs late, generally speaking, it will often continue on the next
night (Tuesday, May 3rd this year). Please be aware that the motion to
continue the meeting to another night is made in person at the first night,
so this is subject to change.

What’s up for discussion and debate?

The Advisory Committee spends countless hours going over the warrant and
the budget and makes recommendations that it deems are in the best
interests of the town.

Insider tip (complete with bonus points for reading this far into this
e-mail haha) – access to Town Meeting will be THROUGH THE FRONT DOORS OF
HHS ONLY. We learned last year that we really liked the “art/engineering
hallway” check-in process. It allowed people to check in…and then only
folks who were checked in could be in the cafe and in or near the overflow
seating out there. The outside traffic flow was good, there is plenty of
parking in the front of the building, the semi-circular flow of people
inside of the building was really smooth (and it kept people spread out –
not a bad idea still at this point in the pandemic). There will be extra
wheelchairs on hand for anyone with mobility issues, and CERT team members
will be there to assist with directions.

See you there!
