Good news about the high school to start your day

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

I heard some great news "around town" yesterday that I thought was well
worth mentioning "on the web" to all of you. J While stopping by Town Hall
yesterday, I was delighted to hear that the bids for the new high school
have come in well under our original estimates. If you recall, the town
approved a total of approximately $61 million for the new Hanover High
School, the bulk of which was passed by a margin of 79% in an override
ballot question on September 16th, 2008. Since then, of course, we have all
been reeling from the impact of the economic downturn.

The Selectmen signed a letter of intent with general contractor Callahan,
Inc. of Bridgewater this week for a total cost of just under $50 million
dollars. The unissued bonds totaling over $11 million dollars will save the
average taxpayer literally hundreds and hundreds of dollars over the life of
the project costs.

It doesn’t get much better than that!
