Annual Feast of the Portiuncula

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Annual Feast of the Portiuncula will be celebrated with
an outdoor Mass, co-sponsored by Cardinal Cushing Centers, St. Mary of
Portiuncula SFO Fraternity, and St. Mary of the Sacred Heart Parish, on Monday,
August 2 at 6:30 p.m.  Mass will be said outside on the Cardinal Cushing
Centers Campus, before the Portiuncula Chapel, the final resting place of the
late Richard Cardinal Cushing.  The Cardinal founded the school for
children with special needs in 1947 together with the Sisters of Saint Francis
of Assisi of Milwaukee, WI.  Cardinal Cushing Centers’ campus is
located at 405 Washington Street (Rte. 53), Hanover.  The Mass will
include a blessing of the memorial bricks on path to the chapel.  Music
will be provided by St. Mary’s Music Ministry.  In case of rain or
extreme heat, Mass will be held at St. Mary’s Church.
