PORTIUNCULA CHAPEL DEVOTIONS

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

On June 7, 2019, 3:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., St. Mary of the Portiuncula Order
of Franciscan Seculars (OFS) is sponsoring a FIRST FRIDAY OF THE SACRED
HEART devotions, at the Portiuncula Chapel, a National Shrine, Cardinal
Cushing Centers, Route 53, Hanover, MA. Devotions are held every first
Friday of the month, May through October, 2019.

Included will be Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament, Chaplet of Divine
Mercy, recitation of the Rosary, Stations of the Cross, and Benediction.
The Sacrament of Reconciliation will also be available with Fr. Mike
McNamara from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m.

The prayer intentions for June are for Family unity/Families fallen away.
All are most welcome to come and pray together for your needs and
intentions. Come and stay for all devotions, or for as long as you can.

Adult coloring at the library

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

NEW: MONDAY EVENING ADULT COLORING at the John Curtis Library

Need to de-stress? Why not try an hour of adult coloring?! On Monday
evenings June 3 and 17, July 1 and 15, August 5 and 19, at 6:45 p.m., the
John Curtis Free Library, 534 Hanover Street, will provide a wide
assortment of coloring pages, colored pencils, and snacks to help you
forget about your day. We will meet in the magazine room on the second

Town seeks office assistance

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Wanted – Experienced Office Assistants. The Hanover Town Hall is looking
for permanent volunteers or tax work-off participants to work in town
offices on a regular basis. Tasks include: answering phones, customer
service desk, filing, computer work and other duties as assigned. Specific
training for departments will be provided. Senior tax work-off
requirements include: age 60 and over, possess skills needed. (Income
limits no longer apply due to a recent Town Meeting vote.) Work up to a

Memorial Day plans

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Quick Memorial Day overview:

Monday, May 27th:

Troop 38 Pancake Breakfast – 7:00 – 9:30 a.m., St. Mary’s Parish Hall
Stetson House Open House 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m.
Memorial Day Parade – 10:00 a.m., begins behind St. Mary’s Parish Hall,
goes up 139 toward the center of town, through the cemetery, and ends back
at the Veteran’s Memorial.
Hopefully Troop 1 will be having their hot dog stand in front of Riley
Hall?!

Mandatory water restrictions in effect

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

In accordance with Hanover’s Water Management Act Permit (9P3-4-21-122.01)
effective immediately, until further notice, residents and businesses are
required to limit outside watering of lawns, plantings, and gardens to
odd-numbered homes on odd-numbered days and even-numbered homes on
even-numbered days between 6:00 a.m. – 9:00 a.m. and 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
with hand held hoses only. Use of any sprinklers is prohibited.

Any person violating the water restrictions shall be liable to the Town in
the amount of $50.00 for the first violation and $100.00 for each
subsequent violation in accordance with Hanover Town By-Law 6-24.

Private wells must be registered at the DPW office (781-826-3189) and a
“PRIVATE WELL” sign put out.

Hanover Day 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

After a year’s hiatus, the annual Hanover Day 3 on 3 Basketball Tournament
is back and looking for participants. 2017 was the largest and most
competitive edition to date with over 50 teams involved, and this year the
tradition will carry on. This year the tournament features five divisions:
Boys – grades 3 – 4, 5 – 6, and 7 – 8, and Girls – grades 3 – 5 and 6 – 8.

As part of the annual Hanover Day festival, the event will be held
Saturday, June 22nd from 12:00 – 4:00 p.m. on the basketball courts at B.
Everett Hall Field (adjacent to Sylvester School).

-Each team will play a minimum of two 15-minute half court games.
-Registration fee is $25 per team.
-Teams will be paired up randomly within their grade and gender group.
-Teams must have only three or four players.
-Winning teams of each division will receive a championship T-shirt and
other prizes!
-One referee and one scorekeeper will be provided for every game.
-All teams must REGISTER and PAY IN ADVANCE! Absolutely no registrations
will be accepted on the day of the event.
-Registration will close on June 20th and all brackets will be finalized
the day prior to Hanover Day.

Summer Park and Rec programs

Dear fellow Hanoverians:
Spend your summer with Hanover Parks and Recreation!
Their programs are intended for children ages 3-15 years of age. Please
register your child(ren) based on the grade they will be entering in
September 2019. Little Rec is for incoming Pre-K and Kindergartners, Rec is
for incoming 1st – 7th graders, Teen Extreme is for incoming 6th – 9th
graders and the CIT program is for 13-15 year olds. All programs are held
at the Hanover Middle School.
Park and Rec’s goal is to provide a fun, safe and memorable summer
experience and they look forward to creating experiences with your
children!
