Sewing Ministry welcomes new members

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

“Mercy Sews” is an outreach ministry formed at the Holy Mothers
Collaborative in Hanover/Norwell to sew simple dresses and receiving
blankets for children in Africa. They have shipped more than 5,000 articles
of clothing to the Central African Republic over the past three years. They
invite women of all faiths to join them as they work on their 2019
shipment. Please join them at their “measure and cut” workshop to
assemble dress kits for sewing on Thursday, March 14th from 10:00 a.m. to
2:00 p.m. at St. Mary’s Parish Center on Route 139 in Hanover. You do not
need to sew to help!

If you would like more information on the ministry and its mission, please
email Clare Noonan at mercysews@comcast.net .

Don’t delay, license your dog today!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier reminded residents that 2019
Town of Hanover dog licenses are still available on-line, by mail, or in
the Hanover Town Clerk’s Office. Now is the time to license your dog to
avoid the late fee! The licensing period is January 1, 2019 – March 31,
2019, and a $10 late fee applies beginning April 1, 2019. All dogs over
the age of 6 months are required by law to be licensed. The license is
good for one year, and costs $10 for spayed or neutered dogs, and $15 for
intact dogs. Residents over the age of 70 will be given a free license for
their vaccinated dog upon proof of the owner’s age.

In an effort to make this process easy for residents, there are several
ways to license your dog:

• The easiest way is on-line via a link on the Town Clerk’s section of
the Town of Hanover’s website, which is also here:
https://townforms.com/TownForms/public/Login/BusinessUserLogin.aspx?ch=FB41A7C6E5AFCA94A2F2D9044860C90E&rtn=%2fpublic%2fforms%2fformViewer.aspx%3fch%3dFB41A7C6E5AFCA94A2F2D9044860C90E%26fn%3dSHDogLicense
. If your dog is currently registered in Hanover, you will just need
his/her current tag number to find your on-line record. Set up an account
and pay on-line without leaving the comfort of your home! Almost one-third
of Hanover residents now license their dogs on-line – try it out!

• Residents may also fill out the dog license application that is found
on the Town Clerk’s section of the Town of Hanover’s website at:
https://www.hanover-ma.gov/sites/hanoverma/files/uploads/hanover_dog_license_application_revised_with_on-line_payment_info.pdf
. This is the same application that was included in the census this year.
Completed forms may be mailed in with your payment, proof of current rabies
vaccination and proof of spaying or neutering (if you have not submitted
that information previously) to: Town Clerk’s Office, 550 Hanover Street,
Hanover, MA 02339, and your tag will be mailed back to you.

• As has always been the case, dog licenses may also be obtained in
person at the Town Clerk’s Office during normal business hours. Please
bring the same paperwork – current rabies vaccination information, proof
of spaying/neutering if you have not submitted that information previously,
and your cash or check payable to the Town of Hanover.

Unlicensed dogs are subject to a minimum of a $25 fine, with an additional
$25 fine if unleashed and another fine of $50 if unvaccinated for rabies.
Don’t delay; get your dog’s license today! Late fees begin April 1st!

If you have questions or need more information about the licensing of your
dog in Hanover, please call the Town Clerk’s Office at (781) 826-5000
x1079 or e-mail catherine.harderbernier@hanover-ma.gov or
meg.pallotta@hanover-ma.gov . Kennel owners are encouraged to call or stop
in also, as their licensing process requires an inspection and other
additional reviews and paperwork.

Time is running out…submit your census on-line!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Registrar of Voters Chairman Nancy Goldthwait and Town Clerk Catherine
Harder-Bernier appealed today for the assistance of the people of Hanover
regarding the return of the town’s census. The “Annual Street
Listing”, better known as the Town Census, was mailed in early January
and residents of Hanover are kindly reminded to return it as soon as
possible.

“We’ve had a great response to the census this year; we are well ahead
of previous years in terms of our collection rate. We are hoping that this
additional reminder will prompt a few more folks to send their census in
and avoid being made an inactive voter this spring,” said Harder-Bernier.
“New this year, you can even submit your census on-line if you don’t
have any changes!”, Harder-Bernier continued.

Goldthwait noted that the census is important for a number of reasons.
“Hanover Police and Fire Departments need to know who is living in a
residence so that they can respond appropriately in case of an emergency,
the correct tally of persons is necessary for voting purposes, and a
correct census helps insure Hanover receives adequate state funding based
on population,” Goldthwait said. “Send in your census today!”,
Goldthwait added.

No changes and want to file on-line? Go to:
https://www.hanover-ma.gov/census . Misplaced your form? Blank forms are
available on the Town Clerk’s webpage at
https://www.hanover-ma.gov/sites/hanoverma/files/uploads/census_form.pdf .
Feel free to drop your completed census in the mailbox in the front door of
Town Hall.

Further information about the town’s census may be obtained by going to
the Town Clerk’s page of the Town website at
http://www.hanover-ma.gov/town-clerk/pages/street-list-and-census , by
calling the Board of Registrar’s Office at (781) 826-5000 x1082 or by
