Music and Story Program at John Curtis Library

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Music and Story Program at John Curtis Library
Thursday October 18, 4:00 p.m. – 4:45 p.m.

“Tuned Up” is a music-infused literary program that works singing,
playing instruments and movement into children’s books, old and new.
Instructor Eileen Wilson chooses a book and writes music inspired by the
story, characters and tone. In the program, she first introduces the book
and teaches the songs to the children, while playing guitar or ukulele.
Some require instrumental accompaniment that children play on xylophones
and percussion instruments. Others use scarves, ribbons, or other movement
manipulatives. After the group practices each song, Eileen reads the story
aloud, working each song into a different part of the story. Though geared
towards the 5 – 8-year-old age bracket, younger and older participants
would enjoy it as well.

The program is funded by the Friends of the Library.

Attendance is limited. Please register from the Calendar section of the
library’s website, www.hanovermass.com/library. For more information, call
781-826-2972, ext. 4, or email the children’s librarian at
lcampbell@ocln.org.

Last day to register to vote in the mid-terms

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced that Wednesday,
October 17th is the last day to register to vote in the State Election.
The Registrar’s Office will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m. on
Wednesday the 17th.

Thanks to new legislation that went into effect in 2016, any Hanover
citizen who is sixteen years of age or older is eligible to register to
vote. Citizens who will be eighteen on or before Election Day, November
6th, 2018 will then be eligible to actually vote. Once registered and 18
years of age, individuals will be eligible to vote in all elections
thereafter, including the Town Election in May 2019.
Citizens of Hanover may conveniently register to vote or change their party
status on-line, by mail or in person. The link for on-line registration is
here: https://www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR . If residents choose to register
by mail they should download the “Massachusetts Mail-In Voter
Registration Form” found here:
http://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/eleifv/howreg.htm and mail the completed
form to the Hanover Town Clerk’s Office.

If voters wish to register to vote in person, they may do so at two
convenient locations: Hanover Town Hall or the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

“The State Election, or the so-called ‘mid-term election’ in
November, will be the largest election until 2020” said Harder-Bernier.
“There are races up and down the ballot – from Governor and Senator to
State Representative – along with the three ballot questions that have
been generating interest since the summer. Don’t miss your chance to let
your voice be heard!”

Questions may be directed to Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier at
(781) 826-5000 x1079 or by e-mail at Catherine.harderbernier@hanover-ma.gov
, or Senior Registrar Nancy Goldthwait at (781) 826-5000 x1082 or
nancy.goldthwait@hanover-ma.gov .
