Dinner under the stars

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Kick off the summer on Saturday, June 23rd at the Stetson House.

Connect with loved ones, family and friends over cuisine expertly crafted
by local chefs while enjoying a beautiful evening under the starlit sky.

The sound of live music from Didn’t Planet coupled with the glow of the
sun sinking behind the Hanover Town Hall, what better way to spend a
Saturday evening?

Your table awaits. As outdoor space is limited, reservations are
recommended to secure your place at Dinner Under the Stars. This event will
take place while the Hanover Day Carnival is in full swing across the
street at Sylvester Field.

Cost is $35 per person for members, $40 non-members. To purchase tickets,
please call Hanover Historical Society event coordinator Maura Longueil at
508-212-4182 or e-mail her at mauralongueil@gmail.com .

Memorial Day plans

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

We heard through the grapevine that the Memorial Day parade would be
different this year, and have only found a reference to the change in an
article by Adam Silva of the Hanover Mariner. Please go to:
http://hanover.wickedlocal.com/news/20180522/hanover-memorial-day-parade-to-honor-those-who-sacrificed
for more information. Thanks Adam for helping to get the word out. Adam
also mentions the Troop 38 Pancake Breakfast in the article. Both events
are tomorrow morning.

We did hear from the good folks at Hanover Boy Scout Troop One with the
following announcement:
Troop One will be having their annual concession stand at the Memorial Day
Parade on Monday, May 28 along the parade route in front of Riley Hall.
Please stop by for donuts, coffee, hot chocolate, water or a hot dog. Any
questions please contact Jennifer at jwmccaffery1@gmail.com
Your support is appreciated!

Sorry we don’t have better details about tomorrow; ATOTW is only as good as
the information it receives! Regardless, please join us in honoring the
bravery and sacrifice of our town’s and nation’s veterans tomorrow.

Front porch canned food drive

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

This just in from one of my awesome young neighbors! I normally prefer
e-blasts written in the 3rd person, but this one was just too good to send
any other way than as he sent it to me. Great job, Zach! Read on!

“My name is Zach Dehner and I’ve lived in Hanover my whole life. I’m
turning 13, will become a Bar Mitzvah, and want to give back to our
community. I am running a front porch canned food drive for the Hanover
Food Pantry and would like your support.

This is very important to me because people should never have to go
starving. We should support all the people that need to go to the food
pantry to get food for their families until they can support themselves. By
doing this, people will be able to have a nice meal for maybe a day or two
and don’t have to worry about what they’re going to eat the next day.

Between now and June 16th, please drop off canned goods at my house at 170
Maplewood Drive, Hanover, MA .

I will be delivering all collections before the July 4th Holiday to help
keep the pantry stocked during the holiday.

There will be a cardboard box on my front porch which you can drop cans in.
You don’t have to ring the doorbell or anything like that. This is the link
to the food pantry website in case you want to know more about it:
http://www.hanover-ma.gov/hanover-food-pantry .

For more information, please contact me at lkdehn@gmail.com .

Thank you, Zach Dehner”

Children’s Yoga Classes at John Curtis Library

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

During the month of June, the library will host yoga classes for children
ages three to five years on Monday mornings. Classes will be held June 4,
11, 18, and 25, all at 11:00 a.m.

everything…. yoga mats, props, and music. Children will also go home with
a yoga related activity such as guided relaxations, mandala coloring pages,

Veteran’s Memorial plaques – please review!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

In case you missed their display at Town Meeting or the Town Election,
please know that the plaques that grace the new Veteran’s Memorial at B.
Everett Hall Field are being re-done. There were some veterans missing
from the newly installed plaques who were living in Hanover at the time of
their enlistment or draft. Therefore, the Veteran’s Memorial Committee,
and supporters Frank Lynch and Kirt Fordyce, are working hard to update and
correct the boards.

Please see the attached photos of the new plaques. Those same files are
found here:
http://atotw.com/files/memorial/korea2.jpg
http://atotw.com/files/memorial/vietnam2.jpg
http://atotw.com/files/memorial/wwi2.jpg
http://atotw.com/files/memorial/wwii2.jpg

If there are misspellings, changes, or especially outright name omissions,
Mr. Lynch and Mr. Fordyce want to know about them. Please e-mail Frank at
franklyn11@comcast.net with any updates. And while you are at it, please
thank Kirt for his service in Vietnam and Frank for his service during the
Vietnam era, and also for this yeoman’s work…filled with love and
devotion to their fellow Hanoverians.
