Election Day and voting information

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

This past Friday, 11/1 at noon was the last day and time for any registered
Hanover voter to Vote Early In-Person without an excuse. As of Sunday
(today as I write this), over 4,800 voters, or 39% of our registered
voters, have voted early either by mail or in-person. If you requested a
ballot by mail and it is still sitting on your kitchen counter, NOW is the
time to return it to the ballot drop box outside Town Hall. It is due to
that box by the close of polls on Tuesday! Want to know if the Town
Clerk’s Office received your ballot? Go to:
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=oSTIIK8jhvaXVeb0/eRmAJtcEu1YShd5mPbYPRwBsF5oqLt7nDPYRqoN783ZLADJ
.

And so, the rest of us are officially on to Election Day! Below please
find some information to help you to cast your vote on Tuesday, November
5th, 2024.

All four Hanover precincts vote at Hanover High School, 287 Cedar Street.
School will be closed that day. Voters are encouraged to park in the back
simply because it is closer to the polls, but the front doors will be open
too. There’s also more parking in front than in back. We expect to set
record numbers at this election, so come early and expect to wait in line.
Polls will be open from 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.

Help us to avoid lines by deciding now how you plan to vote, especially on
the 5 questions that will be on the ballot since they are long. Here is
the link to the Specimen Ballot:
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=AVY3XvSSDKyAWEM5S8howJtcEu1YSod5mPbYPRwBsF5oqLt7nDM4RqoN783ZLADJ
. Want to do your homework and can’t find your red “Information for
Voters” booklet? Here’s the link to the book:
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=fUA83gyxzQeXHhAz1thf5JtcEu1YStd5mPbYPRwBsF5oqLt7nDOYRqoN783ZLADJ
.

Hanover’s own Mom on the Go Food Truck will be slinging grilled cheese
sandwiches from 11:30 a.m. – 6:00 p.m. in the back of the high school near
the track. Skip meal prep, bring the kids and spend some time studying
your booklet while you eat before you go in!

Are you physically unable to get to the polls? Will you be out of town on
Election Day ALL day between 7:00 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.? Do you have a
religious belief that prevents you from coming to the polls on Tuesday? If
you can answer yes to one of these questions, and are willing to sign an
affidavit attesting so, then you qualify for an absentee ballot. Absentee
ballots are available over the counter from 8:00 a.m. – 12 noon ONLY on
Monday, November 4th in the Town Clerk’s Office. The voter has to appear
in person.

The Town Clerk’s Office will close at noon on Monday in order to set up and
prepare for the election. Please use your electronic resources to answer
any further questions you may have at that point. We really like this
page:

.

In closing, please join me in thanking your election worker friends and
neighbors who have served hundreds and hundreds of hours just to get us to
this point – and who will continue to do so on Election Day. They are part
of an incredible team of people who simply want to make sure that you can
vote, and that together, we can continue to bring democracy to the citizens
of Hanover. You know who they are, and I know that they are amazing.
Thank you, team.

Candy Drive for the Troops!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Girl Scout Troop 82282 is hosting their annual Halloween Candy
Drive again this year! The girls will package up all donated candy and
bring to Carepacks, Inc., an organization based out of Weymouth that sends
care packages to deployed troops throughout the world.

When: Collecting donations from 10/28-11/3

Where: Leave donations in orange bins outside Sing Explore Create, 33
Rockland Street, Hanover

What: Accepting donations of candy (get rid of those Halloween leftovers!).
Candy should be individually wrapped, but sending along a random assortment
of trick or treat candy is fine! For example, does not need to be an
unopened bag of fun size candy bars, but can be the few you may have
leftover. They will be bagging and packaging it all up.

Questions? Reach out to Nicole at ncraven8@gmail.com .

Thank you for your support of Troop 82282’s fall service project!

Non-profits sought for upcoming Holiday Stroll

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The good folks of Hanover Crossing are working on final details of their
upcoming Holiday Stroll on Small Business Saturday – and they want to
start with inviting HANOVER charities and non-profit groups first.

They’d like to invite your organization to be their guest at a fun
family-friendly event they are hosting at Hanover Crossing on November
30th. The event will feature food, drinks, live music, kids’ activities and
more and they would love to have you participate to share information about
your organization with their guests. Hanover Crossing is passionate about
the Hanover community and know that you are a big part of it — this is
their way of going into the holiday season spotlighting special groups like
yours that make our community so special.

Hanover Crossing is inviting lots of nonprofits that support the Hanover
community and hope you’ll consider joining. Here are some details:
• Saturday, November 30th, 1:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m.
• Hanover Crossing, on the green
• The event will be heavily promoted, and guests will come to enjoy free
family-friendly activities, a stylish photo booth, games, and more.
• Nonprofits are invited to have a table on the Hanover Crossing Green to
showcase their organization, inform guests about Giving Tuesday, which is 3
days later, sell items, and to host something interactive for kids/families
to enjoy, etc.
They’d love to promote your participation in this effort as well so let
them know if you’d like to join them. Hanover Crossing representative Lisa
Berardinelli is happy to set up a meeting to discuss this idea with you
further if you’d like too! She can be reached at
lisa.berardinelli@preppg.com .
