Fire Department Open House

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Hanover Fire Department welcomes local families to a free Open House on
Saturday, May 21 from 9:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. The Open House, sponsored by
Papa Gino’s, is aimed at teaching families fire safety and prevention
practices. The Hanover Fire Department Open House will be held at 32
Center Street.

This open house commemorates National EMS Week. Participants will receive
safety tips such as “stop, drop, cover, and roll”, learn how to plan
escape routes and how to crawl safely through a smoke-filled room. In
addition, Papa Gino’s will provide free pizza and children’s fire
safety coloring sheets at the open house.

“This event allows us to reach out to the community and arm local
families with fire safety tips and procedures,” said Chief Jeffrey
Blanchard. “Our Open House allows families to get together and better
prepares them to react if a fire does start.”

Walking Tour of Hanover Center Cemetery

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Walking Tour of Hanover Center Cemetery
Saturday, May 21st, at 1:00 p.m.
Join Hanover Historical Society’s new Executive Director Stephen
O’Neill for a walking tour of Hanover’s historic Center Cemetery. This
Cemetery started in 1727 and for nearly three hundred years has been the
main burial place for generations of Hanover residents. Grave markers have
changed over the centuries from slate to marble to granite, but they all
hold stories about the town of Hanover and the individuals who lived here.
Join us for a tour through the cemetery to see the types of stones and
markers, hear about the people buried there, and discover the history that
can only be found in Hanover’s Center Cemetery.

For more information contact the Hanover Historical Society, P.O. Box 156
Hanover MA 02339, 781-826-9575, or email
hanoverhistoricalsociety@gmail.com, or go to
www.hanoverhistoricalsociety.com .
