Returning to the past program

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The public is invited to attend a program being presented by the Hanover
Woman’s Club, Juniors at their April meeting. The program featured is
called “Returning to the Past. A simpler Way of Life” and will be narrated
by Hanover resident Dave Setterland. It will be held in the meeting room
of the John Curtis Library on Wednesday, April 13 beginning at 7:15.
Refreshments will be served.

Through a slide presentation, the speaker will take the audience back thru
the quaint countries of Eastern Europe. Starting in Switzerland, he will
move across the country on back roads thru Austria to Vienna, Prague,
Bratislava, Budapest and then into the old country of Romania. Featured
will be great landscapes, old farms and churches hand built and made of
wood. Monasteries dating to the 1500’s, high mountains with lumber mills
and a city dating back to 1000-1100 A.D. will be on this virtual tour. Of
interest is the old medieval street where Dracula was born and raised. He
will return to Hanover at the end of the presentation with a surprise most
will love.

Traveler or not, this should be a very interesting program for all who
attend.

Last Day to Register to Vote at Town Meeting and in the Annual Town Election

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced that Tuesday, April
12th is the last day to register to vote at the Annual Town Meeting and in
the Annual Town Election. Town Hall will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 8:00
p.m. on Tuesday the 12th.

Any Hanover citizen who will be eighteen on or before the first day of Town
Meeting (May 2nd) or by the Town Election (May 7th) is encouraged to
register to vote. Once registered, individuals will be eligible to vote in
all elections thereafter, including the Presidential Election in November.

Citizens of Hanover may conveniently register to vote or change their party
status on-line, by mail or in person. The link for on-line registration is
here: https://www.sec.state.ma.us/OVR . If residents choose to register
by mail they should download the “Massachusetts Mail-In Voter
Registration Form” found here:
https://www.sec.state.ma.us/ele/elepdf/Voter-reg-mail-in.pdf and mail the
completed form to the Hanover Town Clerk’s Office.

If voters wish to register to vote in person, they may do so at two
convenient locations: Hanover Town Hall or the Registry of Motor Vehicles.

“As we continue the run-up to the Presidential Election in November, I
encourage Hanover residents to not lose sight of these elections where
their votes actually ‘weigh more’ because of the lighter turnouts”,
said Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier. “Several major decisions have
been made on Town Meeting floor by a one-vote margin and local elections
have turned on less than 10 votes just in the past few years. Plan now to
register to vote…so you can vote in May!”

Questions may be directed to Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier at
(781) 826-5000 x1079 or by e-mail at Catherine.harderbernier@hanover-ma.gov
, or Senior Registrar Nancy Goldthwait at (781) 826-5000 x1082 or
nancy.goldthwait@hanover-ma.gov .
