Water restrictions in effect

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

On Tuesday, July 1, the DPW issued the following announcement:

Due to water demand exceeding the ability of the Town’s well fields to
adequately supply such demand, and the lack of appreciable amounts of rain
predicted in the immediate future, the Hanover Town Manager has declared a
State of Water Supply Conservation under Town Bylaw 6-24. Effective
immediately, the outdoor use of water is restricted to odd numbered homes
on odd days and even numbered homes on even days between the hours of 6 am
to 9 am and 6 pm to 9 pm. During this period, outdoor water use shall be
limited to hand held hoses only. The use of sprinklers of any kind is
prohibited.

The restrictions will be reevaluated as precipitation and water demand
return to their normal state. Any person violating the water restrictions
shall be liable to the Town in the amount of $50.00 for the first violation
and $100.00 for each subsequent violation in accordance with the Hanover
Town By-Law 6-24. Private wells must be registered at the DPW office
(781-826-3189) and a “PRIVATE WELL” sign put out.

This restriction is necessary to ensure an adequate supply of water for
drinking and for firefighting purposes. Residents with questions regarding
these restrictions may contact the offices of the Hanover DPW at
781-826-3189, or office@hanoverdpw.org . For more information, go to
http://www.hanoverdpw.org/ .

Art is for Everyone outdoor art festival

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Cardinal Cushing Centers, Friendship Home and the South Shore YMCA are
pleased to announce the third annual Art is for Everyone outdoor art
festival on Thursday, July 10 from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on the Cardinal
Cushing campus in Hanover. This free festival is a great way for families
to immerse themselves in the world of art and celebrate the work of all 3
non-profit organizations.

The unique partnership event will feature demonstrations by celebrated
illustrator Dan Vasconcellos and Rockland sculptor Maggie MacLellan, as
well as performances by the South Shore Conservatory’s Community Voices,
a cast from Laura’s Center for the Arts and dancers from Friendship Home
and Cardinal Cushing Centers. Vasconcellos will delight the audience with
an interactive storytelling experience in which he will spontaneously draw
illustrations to capture the story that audience members create. His work
has appeared in the New York Times, Wall Street Journal, The Washington
Post, Golf World, Christian Science Monitor and Harvard Business Review.
MacLellan will demonstrate techniques in paper mache sculpting. Her
technique is to blend paper mache and mixed media to create animals.

The festival will also offer face painting, pony rides, a celebrity paint
bar, barbeque and interactive craft tables hosted by the Boys and Girls
Club of Marshfield, New England Village, Road to Responsibility, Bosse
Music and the Hanover Recreation Department. Attendees can explore a
covered wagon, dress in costume and have their photo taken courtesy of the
South Shore Children’s Museum. Artwork created by members of Friendship
Home, Cardinal Cushing Centers and the South Shore YMCA will also be on
sale. Proceeds from any sale will support the combined efforts and
missions of these organizations.

For more information, please contact Chrissy Maguire at
cmaguire@friendshiphome.net or 781-659-8202 or Laurie Maranian at
lmaranian@cushingscenters.org or 781-829-1247.

Josh Perry fundraising

Dear fellow Hanoverians:
I continue to be amazed by Hanover mother Jan Perry’s devotion to her late
son and her commitment to fundraising in his name. What follows is a
letter from her committee and their efforts to “do good” in Josh’s name:

“We wanted to share an unbelievable opportunity for the Joshua Perry
Scholarship Fund.

As you may know, StayClassy.org is the website that powers the tournament
fundraising website. They have graciously offered to match any donation up
to $1,000. All you need to do is log in to the
www.joshuaperrytournament.stayclassy.org website and make a donation (no
amount is too small!)

We are reaching out to all our friends, family, associates and all their
friends to help make this $1,000 become $2,000.

On a personal note, it’s truly amazing the generosity of all of you! Every
bit counts towards the goal of giving students an opportunity to continue
their education or start a business in a field of their passion. Today is
the SSVT graduation where the scholarship winners will be announced from
the funds of last year’s golf tournament. Each student who applied for the
scholarship, had to perform a pay-it-forward task. It was amazing reading
their stories and the positive feelings this task created. With your help,
we were all able to give these students their first step to success!

So we are asking for your help with this matching opportunity and pass this
message on to others. We look forward to watching the transformation of
this donation-match double.

Very warmly and graciously,
The Joshua Perry Scholarship Committee”
