Autism and Asperger’s workshop

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Special Education Parent Advisory Council is pleased to sponsor the
following workshop for parents and professionals:

Personal Experiences with Autism and Asperger Syndrome:
A Discussion with Stephen Shore”
Presented by Author, Advocate and Consultant Stephen Shore, Ed.D.

Tuesday, April 8, 2014 7 p.m. – 9 p.m.
Hanover High School (First Floor)
Nonverbal until four and diagnosed with “atypical development with strong
autistic tendencies,” Stephen Shore was regarded as “too sick” to be
treated on an outpatient basis and recommended for institutionalization.
Fortunately, his parents disagreed. With their persistence and the help of
teachers and other friends and professionals, Stephen has gained more
ground than anyone would have thought possible from that original
diagnosis! He is now a professor of special education at Adelphi University
with a focus on helping people on the autism spectrum develop their
capacities to the fullest extent possible.

PAC sponsored workshops are free and open to the public. Please note that
all dates and topics are tentative and subject to change. Please check
their website at http://hanovermasspac.webs.com/ or “like” HanoverPAC
on Facebook at www.facebook.com/HanoverPAC for more information during the
school year.

Comments and suggestions can be sent to the e-mail address
hanoverpac@comcast.net with the subject “parent feedback” or via the
contact us tab on their website. For further information, please call
Susan at 781.826.8261.
