Now is the time to jump in the race!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Town Clerk Cathy Harder-Bernier encouraged her fellow citizens to
become more involved in town by running for elected office. “Ten
candidates have pulled nomination papers to date for the fourteen total
seats available,” said Harder-Bernier. “The deadline to pull papers is
the first day of spring, Thursday, March 20th, at 5:00 p.m. My office will
be open late and I will look forward to walking people through the initial
steps of the process,” she added.

On the ballot this May will be elections for two members of the Board of
Selectmen for a three year term each, two members of the School Committee
for a three year term each, three members of the Housing Authority (one
term for five years, one term for four years, and one term for three
years), two members of the Board of Assessors (one for a three year term
and one for one year), one member of the Planning Board for a five year
term, one Board of Health member for a three year term, one member of the
Board of Public Works for a three year term, one Trustee of the Public
Library for a three year term and one Moderator for a one year term.

“Running for elected office was one of the highlights of my years of
service to Hanover, and I heartily encourage others to follow suit,” said
Harder-Bernier. “It’s not as daunting as one may think initially; in
fact, it’s a lot of fun. Collecting 50 signatures of registered voters
on nomination papers is all that is needed to get the ball rolling. Both
newcomers and long-time community volunteers are encouraged and welcomed to
run for office,” explained Harder-Bernier.

Election Day in Hanover is May 10th and the last day to register to vote is
April 15th. For more information about the election process and related
deadlines, please contact Hanover Town Clerk Cathy Harder-Bernier or
Assistant Town Clerk JoAnne O’Connor at (781) 826-5000 x1079 or by e-mail
at catherine.harderbernier@hanover-ma.gov or joanne.oconnor@hanover-ma.gov

Hanover High Hockey team plays for state championship

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Hanover High School Hockey team will be playing in the state
championship hockey game tomorrow, Sunday, March 16, at 11:00 a.m. at the
Boston Garden. From wondering early in the season if they would even make
the state tournament, all the way to the Garden, it’s been quite a ride for
these young men. I particularly love that they have all dyed their hair
blond and really come together as a team. Congratulations to Coach Jonny
Abban for guiding them to an amazing season to date.

Let’s cheer them on at the Garden! Tickets can be purchased on-line for
$10.95 by going to this link:

As March is national “Music in Our Schools Month,” the HHS Music Department
would like to welcome you to their annual Collaborative Concert on
Thursday, March 13, 7:30 p.m. in Robert J. Nyman Auditorium at HHS. It’s
the only opportunity throughout the year when an audience can enjoy a full

departments. Concert Band, Concert Chorus and VOX will share some of their
repertoire selections being prepared for the MICCA festival in April. The
Jazz Ensemble will perform the festival charts already performed at the
MAJE District Festival, which earned them a Gold medal rating and the
opportunity to perform at the MAJE State Finals again this year.

The concert is free and open to the public. For more information, please
contact Friends of Hanover Music at HPMC101@gmail.com .

Sponsors sought, booths available for Hanover Day

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Sponsorship opportunities are still available for the ninth annual Hanover
Day community celebration on Saturday, June 21.

As in the past, Hanover Day will feature artisan crafts, demonstrations,
games and activities for all ages, great food, live music and dancing by
local performers, and an incredible fireworks display over Hanover Center.
Approximately 10,000 people attend the event, and organizers are expecting
many more to join this year’s celebration, which will run from 10 a.m. to
11 p.m. at B. Everett Hall/Sylvester Field on Route 139.

To help support such a large undertaking, the planning committee has
developed several sponsorship levels and is inviting local businesses to
help underwrite the fireworks, musical and dance performances, kids’
activities, and more.

Local businesses and individuals are encouraged to support Hanover Day by
choosing a level of sponsorship that suits their promotional budgets. The
exposure of being involved with Hanover Day is unbeatable! For more details
on the opportunities available, contact Nancy Devlin,
nancydevlin@hanoverday.com, 781-789-4022, or Jeannie Hickey,
jeanniehickey@hanoverday.com or 781-254-8057.

Applications for craft, business and civic group booths also are being
accepted, and volunteers are always welcome. For information on the craft
fair and full details about the event, visit www.hanoverday.com.
