Toys for Tots, food drive, and donations to needy veterans

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The American Legion continues its yearly “Toys for Tots” drive to give
needy children the Christmas they deserve. The “Toy Drive” will last
until 12/17 to ensure the deliveries are made to the regional office in
Plymouth County. From there, they are then distributed to needy families
within South Shore towns. In addition, the Legion will have their
“Drive through and Drop off Day” on Saturday, December 16th for those who
wish to drive up to their location and hand volunteers their toy donations
as well nonperishable food items to support their food drive for the
Hanover Food Pantry. The Legion will also be accepting gift cards for
needy Veterans throughout the month of December.

The American Legion is a non-profit organization that relies on hall
rentals and fundraising efforts to support their mission, the Veterans in
town and the American Legion. Their Mission is committed to mentoring
youth, advocating patriotism and honor, promoting strong national security,
and continued devotion to our fellow service members and veterans. The
Legion takes pride in assisting Veterans in need locally and overseas,
contributing to the Nathan Hale Foundation, ALS ONE, The Fisher House
(which houses families of Veterans at the VA Hospital), Jared Allen’s
Homes for Wounded Warriors, Weymouth Police Officer Chesna’s Family Fund,
and annual college scholarships, just to name a few supported organizations
by the Post.

Your generous donation is appreciated, and we all value the support to our
Veterans. For more information, please see the attached flyer or contact
Ray Miller at raymiller23@verizon.net .

Go Hawks!

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

In case you missed it, Hanover High School’s fall athletics teams have been
having a banner season. Congratulations to the girls’ soccer team for
their runner-up second place finish in the MIAA State Division 3 Soccer
Tournament! The defending state champion Hawks lost in a nail biter to
neighboring Norwell in the finals. Two members of the Cross-Country team
qualified for and ran well in the Division 2 MIAA State Championship.
Shout out to Junior Cam Bradford and Freshman Mae Evans. The high school
cheer squad competed in the MSAA State Cheer Tournament and came in 6th in
their division after an amazing season, and the Hanover Hawks football
squad is still in the mix for the Division 5 state championship! Wow!

The football boys play in the Super Bowl at Gillette Stadium this Friday at
8:00 p.m. in Foxborough against Foxborough. Come cheer on the team! The
Pride of Hanover Marching Band sent along this hype video:
http://atotw.com/maillist/lt.php?tid=VpZjC1EANFqY/QsTYTCxXkM3vEltKb78keQ3qcgRTbhoqLt7nDNIRqoN783ZLADJ
, and the Hawk’s Nest School Spirit Store will be open the rest of this
week so that you can stock up on your Hawks’ gear. Here’s the link to
their on-line store:
Collections
.

We are equally if not more proud of our student athletes in Hanover – all
18 fall teams earned MIAA Academic Excellence Awards for a combined GPA of
2.5, and 10 of 18 earned Gold level awards for a combined GPA of 3.0.

Go Hawks!
