This Saturday, October 1st from 8:00 – 6:00 p.m.

And Sunday, October 2nd from 8:00 – 4:00 p.m.

On Saint Mary’s Parish front lawn, Hanover Street

Come and pick your favorite pumpkins big and small. We will have
scarecrows, mums and gourds for all of your fall decorating needs.
Also on sale will be the finest mulled hot cider, hot dogs, and an
incredible bake sale table. Kids can paint their pumpkins for FREE!

Please stop by and support Troop 38 this weekend and pick up your

*What: STRETCH AND RELAXATION*
*When: WEDNESDAYS in OCTOBER*

*GREAT CLASS FOR THE “STILL WORKING” SENIOR.*

This is a trial run evening class to see if there is any interest. The
program is free for the month of October! If you are still working,
this will be a great chance for you to use the Senior Center!
Stretching improves flexibility, balance and prevents injury and it is
good for everyone. This class is geared to improve physical condition.
The methods are gentle and easy, conforming to individual differences
in muscle tension and flexibility. The format is stretching combined
with balance exercises to enhance physical and mental well being. Come
and join us. Class begins on Wednesday evenings at 6:30 p.m. beginning
on October 5, 2011.

*ABOUT THE INSTRUCTOR:*
Neil Sullivan is an Exercise Physiologist who has spent the last
twelve years teaching health and fitness as a Lifestyle to people of
all ages, levels and abilities. Neil has a wide range of experience
and implements programs that strengthen and condition the body.
Neil’s intention is to enable people to live healthier and more
peaceful lives while incorporating a lifestyle of exercise and
nutrition that integrates the body, mind and spirit.

After Friday, a $25 late fee will be charged per person per sport. Go

*There will be a deadline for late Spring Soccer registrations as
well. HYAA MUST submit each player’s information to MA Youth Soccer in
order to meet eligibility requirements by November 30th. Due to this
requirement, HYAA CANNOT accept late registrations for Spring 2012
soccer after November 30th. Please be sure you sign your child up on
time.

*HARVEST FEST*

The Friends of the Hanover Council on Aging will be holding their
first annual Harvest Fest. Proceeds from this event will go to
programs held at the Hanover Senior Center.

This event is a great affordable day out for the family.

There are craft/ vendor tables, food, and activities for children,
decorate a pumpkin cookie, face painting, raffles and prizes.

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Get those running shoes ready as the third annual Anchor Race is
almost here! The Hanover Newcomers Club is proud to host this four
mile road race/fitness walk on Sunday, October 2, 2011. The
professionally timed race begins at 10:00 a.m. at Cedar School. There
will also be a “Free Kids Run” prior to the race, scheduled for
9:00 a.m.

Prizes are awarded to top division winners. Register on-line to run or
walk at www.coolrunning.com
or in person on the day of the race. Donation is $25.00. Proceeds
from the race will be donated to the Hanover Foundation for
Educational Enrichment. The HFEE is a non-profit organization
supported by residents who believe in quality education for the
students in Hanover. To date, over $200,000 has been raised for
enrichment grants throughout the schools.

Residents along the race route are reminded to plan accordingly as
runners and walkers will be on the roads between 10:00 a.m. and 11:00
a.m. on October 2nd. The race route is Cedar Street to Main Street
through Stone Meadow to Whiting Street. Residents are also encouraged
to line the streets and cheer on the participants!

Entertainment and family activities will be provided. Race to be held
rain or shine.

The Hanover Police Boys Club Annual Bags of Cash fundraiser is coming
up!

Details are as follows:
Event will be held Saturday, November 5, 2011 at the Rockland Golf
Course, 7:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
They will be serving a family style dinner catered by Truemans.
Tickets are $100 and this admits two to the event.
There are 7 bags of cash to give away: $10,000 $3,000 $1,000 $500 $300
$200 $100
Ticket sales are limited to 400.

All proceeds will help to support the Hanover Police Boys Club.

*Two Fall Ball Programs with Coaches Molloy and Damon*

*Triple Threat Fall Ball *
This program is an intense co-ed 75 minute skill development
basketball program open to residents from Hanover and Rockland. The
program is designed by veteran varsity basketball coaches Mark Molloy
(Hanover High) and Fred Damon (Rockland High). Varsity and assistant
coaches will direct instruction with the help of high school players.
The instruction will focus on dribbling, shooting, passing and
lay-ups. The main focus is developing individual and team fundamental
skills to prepare players for the upcoming season. Players will learn
what it takes to raise their game to the next level.

When: Mondays: September 26th – November 1st (skipping 10/10 and
10/31)

This co-ed clinic will focus on teaching age-appropriate (grades 1-3)
basketball fundamentals for beginning players. Fundamentals covered
will include dribbling, ball handling, passing and defense. The

skill development for players of all levels. All players will receive
a t-shirt.

The Hanover Police Department will be holding its annual Child Safety
Seat Check Point at the rear of the S-Bank, located at 1165 Washington
Street in Hanover, this Sunday September 25th. It will run from 11:00
a.m. – 2:00 p.m. with Certified Child Safety Seat Techs showing you
how to install your child safety seat correctly.

UGoGirl is a unique program that allows girls age 10 and up to learn
about healthy nutrition and exercise while inspiring them to embrace
their individuality.

Topics in the UGoGirl program include:

-Nutrition, exercise and developing a healthy body image
-Positive life skills
-Self esteem, self respect, self confidence and integrity
-Good decision making
-Peer pressure, bullying and the stress of trying to fit in
-Embracing and loving your individuality.

Instructor Julianne McLaughlin developed the UGoGirl curriculum from
observations of her own teenage children and their peers. A graduate
of the Institute of Integrative Nutrition, Julianne is also a
Certified Weight Loss and Nutrition Counselor, Personal Trainer,
Pilates and Spin Instructor.
