Join Hanover Community Television (HCTV) on Tuesday, March 22nd at the John
Curtis Library to learn how you can get involved with HCTV. The information
session will begin at 6:30 p.m., and all are welcome. If you have ever had
an interest in television production, now is your chance to get involved.
They will provide you with the training and resources you will need to be
involved with HCTV.

John F. Gallagher, author of the new book "Rum, A Tailor’s Goose and a Soap
Box: Three Murderous Affairs in the History of Hanover, Massachusetts", will
be the featured speaker at a Hanover Historical Society meeting on Tuesday,
March 22, 2011. John, a retired Boston Police detective, has written a
fascinating book about historic murders in Hanover, and those who have heard
him say he is a great speaker. The meeting will be held at Phoenix Lodge,
133 Broadway, Hanover Four Corners. Join the Historical Society for social
hour at 6 p.m., a delicious roast pork dinner prepared by men of the Lodge
at 7 p.m., and program at 8 p.m. Cost of the meal is $15.00 (paid at the
door) and required reservations may be made until March 18 by e-mailing
nriver@gis.net or calling 781-829-4851 and leaving a message.

The Hanover Historical Society is a non-profit organization dedicated to
preserving and sharing Hanover history, with headquarters in the Stetson
House, 514 Hanover Street in Hanover. They are open each Wednesday from
2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Stop in and share your knowledge of Hanover or research a
topic of interest in our archives. They would love to have YOU as a member,
and membership can be yours for only $7.50 per individual, $15.00 per
family. Mail your check for membership to Hanover Historical Society, Box

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Girls Hockey is growing!

Due to the tremendous success of their first three seasons, they’re looking
to create even more teams. They’re looking for girls born between 1997 and
2003 who are interested in playing on all girl hockey teams. If you
currently play on a team with boys, or play on a girl’s team in another
organization, or are interested playing for the first time, please check out
their program. If you have a friend or cousin who lives on the South Shore,
and who would be interested in playing, have her sign up. Prior
hockey/skating experience is not necessary. Please check out their Hanover

Registration will be at Bavis Arena (180 VFW Drive, Rockland) on the second
floor on the following days:
Tuesday March 15, 2011 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Friday March 18, 2011 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Tuesday March 22, 2011 5:00 p.m. – 7:30 p.m.
Friday March 25, 2011 5:00 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

Program Information:
The total tuition cost is $1,150 (which includes the $300 registration fee).
This cost is lower than many programs in surrounding towns and includes:

Spring/Summer
Friday Night 3×3 Cross Ice Hockey*

Fall/Winter
Weekly 1 hour Practice Ice
Weekly 1 hour Skills Session*
Weekly 1 or 2 Games

*Not included in most other programs

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Congratulations to the Hanover High School Robotics Team whose veteran robot
"The Bull" finished first place at Assabet Valley’s "Rally in the Valley"
Tournament this past weekend. The Bull dominated the 20 robot field going
5-0 in a double elimination bracket. Congratulations also to the sophomore
robot "Rhino" who was the winner of the Rumble, a seven bot last man
standing free for all match.

The Bull’s first match of the day was an impressive display against
Lincoln-Sudbury’s "Anonymous". A hit that damaged The Bull did not stop
driver Conor Crowley from pursuing the opponent, which led to a judge’s
decision in Hanover’s favor at the three minute match conclusion:

The team came prepared to rebuild and was able to get The Bull back into
full operating condition before the next match. They would not have to rely
on the judges any more for the rest of the day, with four consecutive
knockouts, and one as quick as 2 seconds into the match. The final match
was against Bay Path’s "Maha" and reminded the crowd one more time how
powerful The Bull is:

OPEN STUDIO ARTISTS

AN EXHIBITION OF WATERCOLORS

JOHN CURTIS LIBRARY

Now through APRIL 30, 2011

OPENING RECEPTION – SATURDAY APRIL 2nd at 2 p.m.

A few years ago, a group of women watercolorists were attempting to find a
location where they could get together weekly to paint. After a search for
appropriate facilities through many towns, they discovered the Plymouth
Center for the Arts, on North Street, in Plymouth Center. The director of
the center agreed to give them the use of a room on a weekly basis, for an
individual donation per week.

This original group has expanded to approximately ten women and has now been
meeting for over three years. The artists are from New Bedford, Falmouth,
Plymouth, Norwell, Duxbury, Marshfield, Hanover, and Abington. They meet
to paint, help each other, share ideas, encourage new approaches, and attend
exhibitions. This is their first group showing. The Open Studio is held
every Tuesday at Plymouth Center for the Arts, and anyone working in water
media is welcome to join. They meet at 11 a.m. and hold the studio until 3
p.m.

The participating artists in the Open Studio Artists Exhibition are Maureen
Brookfield, Audrey Coughlin, Betty Danker, Lynn Debbs, Wendy Hale, Isabella
Hoell, Kay Leahy and Ginny Wilson. There are a total of fifty-one paintings
in the exhibition representing a variety of styles, interests and
approaches. Each retains a unique method of expression. Many of the women
are juried gallery artists at South Shore Art Center, the Plymouth Center
for the Arts and the Cape Cod Art Association. There are a few members of
the New England Watercolor Society. All of the artists participate in the
shows held by the local art associations, such as North River Arts
Association, Duxbury Art Association, Scituate Art Association, Braintree
and Weymouth Arts Associations as well as participating in other local
events.

The public is enthusiastically invited to view the exhibition during library
hours (Mondays and Wednesdays, 10 a.m. – 8:00 p.m.; Tuesdays, 1:00 – 8:00
p.m.; Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays, 10:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.). Please
feel free to turn the lights on when you arrive, and you are kindly
requested to turn them off to help regulate the temperature and preserve the
paintings in the room when you leave. For further information about the

Support their annual fundraiser this year by dining or taking out at the

31st from 5:00 p.m. – 10:00 p.m. So treat your family, Grandma or Grandpa,
or a favorite friend to dinner and support educational enrichment in the
Hanover Public Schools.

Did you know that every day children attending Hanover schools benefit from
grant awards funded by the HFEE? The HFEE has raised over $260,000 for the
Hanover Public Schools. With continued budget cuts, the role of the HFEE in
providing cutting edge video streaming technology, equipment, materials and
programs to Hanover Schools has assumed even greater importance. So come
out and support the HFEE! They can’t fund these programs without you!

Second, the 8th Annual Literacy Event featuring Storyteller "Big Ryan" and
craft time for children ages 3 – 7 years old will be at the John Curtis Free

some stories and be entertained, then stay to make a few crafts. This event
is sponsored by South Shore Community Action Council, Inc. It is paid for
with funds from the Massachusetts Department of Early Education and Care.
