Two Planning Board openings now

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Town of Hanover Planning Board now has two open volunteer elected
positions available on their Board beginning in May 2011. The previous
ATOTW announcement regarding Planning Board elections only indicated that
there was one opening, so please note this new information. There will be
one 5 year term and one 2 year term open.

The Planning Board typically meets twice a month on Monday evenings.
Persons interested in learning more about serving on the Planning Board may
contact the Town of Hanover Planning Office at (781) 826-7641, or
office.planning@hanover-ma.gov.

Hanover residents interested in running for one of these open positions
should take out nomination papers with the Town Clerk’s Office. The last
day to take out nomination papers for this year’s annual election is 5:00
p.m. on Thursday, March 17, 2011.

Other Town volunteer opportunities are posted on the Town’s website at
www.hanover-ma.gov .

Hanover’s connection to Discovery lift-off

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover’s schoolchildren will be delighted to learn that Cohasset native
astronaut Steve Bowen successfully lifted off into space yesterday on the
shuttle Discovery. Bowen is the brother of Hanover residents Nancy Atturio
and Dan Bowen, and uncle to several Hanover children. Most Hanover children
will know Bowen as the astronaut who came to talk to their classes just this
year, as well as in previous years.

Bowen was a late addition to the Discovery crew due to a bike riding
accident on the part of one of the scheduled astronauts. This is his third
trip into space, and he and the rest of the crew will be bringing needed
supplies to the International Space Station.

Godspeed, Steve Bowen. Come home safe. Hanover’s kids are rooting for you!
