Meals on Wheels drivers needed

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

 

The Hanover Senior Center is currently in need of two
drivers to deliver meals to the elderly.  Drivers are needed for Fridays
and every other Wednesday. It is only for 1 =BD hours per week and the seniors
really do appreciate your help. =A0Please call 781-924-1921 or stop in at our new

Walk the Bog Iron trails with the Open Space Committee

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

 

The Hanover Open Space Committee’s June walk will be
as follows!

 

June 19th, 9:00 a.m. at the Bog Iron trails
between Broadway,  Spring Street, Willow Street and Folly Hill Lane. 

 

Join the Open Space group to understand the role of these
local iron bogs played in Hanover’s industrial past.  Park at the
rear of B. Everett Hall Field (near Sylvester) for a 2 hour guided tour of
these little known trails.  Guides will point out other access points
throughout the walk.  We advise you to bring bug spray with DEET.

Taste of Hanover at Hanover Day

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

 

The “Taste of Hanover” is being held on
Saturday, June 26th as part of Hanover Day at B. Everett Hall
Field.  If you would like to purchase tickets ($5.00 each), please send
your check made payable to “Hanover Cultural Council” to Maureen
Elliott, 977 Broadway, Hanover.  The ticket sales are limited, and if
there are any tickets left over they will be sold the day of the event. 
Do not miss out on this fun event;  get your check in the mail now to reserve
your tickets.  Tickets that are paid for in advance will be available the
day of the event, and should be picked up no later than 11:30 a.m. on the 26th
at “The Taste of Hanover” area at B. Everett Hall Field.

The Young Athletes Open House and Demonstration Day will welcome young
athletes, under the age of 8, and their families to enjoy a morning of fun

For those who are not familiar with the Young Athletes Program held on
Saturday mornings at Cardinal Cushing Centers, 405 Washington Street in
Hanover, the event will also serve as an introduction to the program, which
promotes gross motor development, hand/eye coordination and socialization
skills. Bring your bathing suits for a dip in our beach entry, 4-foot pool,
enjoy the obstacle course, the outdoor track, music, refreshments and more!

Registration is now open for the 2010 Fall Season of the South Shore YMCA NFL Flag Football League

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

 

Registrations are now being accepted for the 2010 fall
season of the South Shore YMCA NFL Flag Football League. You can register on-line
at www.ssymca.org or in person at the
South Shore YMCA located on 75 Mill Street in Hanover.  YMCA NFL
FLAG is the premier youth football league for boys and girls ages 9-14.  The
program provides young players a fun and exciting opportunity to engage in
non-contact, continuous action while learning lessons in teamwork.  There are
two age brackets: 9-11 and 12-14.  All teams are coached by parent volunteers.  All
players will receive a NFL team identified jersey.  The season starts the week
of August 23rd with the first game on Sunday, August 29th.

Summer Basketball Clinic taught by NCAA Champion Medina Dixon at South Shore YMCA in Hanover

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

 

This just in from the good folks at the Y!

 

The South Shore YMCA is proud to be offering a summer
basketball clinic for middle school girls designed and taught by Medina Dixon
of the U.S. Olympic Women’s Basketball Team. This six week program starts July
8th and is dedicated to coaching and mentoring middle school girls
in both basketball proficiency and life skills. It does this by providing a
strong athletic training regimen with instructional coaching, drilling and
focus on competency while also working on character building, self-confidence
and leadership skills. The program is meant for the serious player.  For more

Parks and Rec Kid’s Klub

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Parks and Recreation presents:

KID’S KLUB

This half day program is designed for potty trained 3 year olds to 6 year
olds. This includes children who are enrolled in afternoon Kindergarten in
the Hanover Schools (however, we do not provide transportation to the
elementary schools). Kid’s Klub will run each day from 8:00 a.m. – 12:00
p.m. Each day a free snack will be provided. This program will supervised
by 1 program director as well as 3 assistants. Children will get to play
games and arts and crafts each day with their friends. There will be $10
registration fee per child.

"Enrichment for Everyone"

Hanover Parks and Recreation proudly presents a first of its kind After
School Program that offers enrichment programs at no additional cost. This
program will be located at the new-to-us Hanover Recreation Center at 624
Circuit Street. A school bus, with Park and Rec staff onboard, will pick
your child up at school and transport them, FREE OF CHARGE, to the
Recreation Center five days a week. Your child will then be able to have a
true "Park and Rec" experience only previously available in the summer.
Enrichment activities will take place on Tuesdays, and will range from Lego
Robotics to Spanish to Basketball to Web Design all COMPLETELY FREE!!!!! At
the beginning of each month, your child will get to choose what activity
he/she would like to participate in from a list of 5 possible options.
Staff will include 1 program director and 3 counselors.

The Park and Rec Perks
