The Hanover Board of Health, in conjunction with the Hanover Visiting Nurse
Association, has set the first clinic date to provide H1N1 vaccination.

This clinic will be to vaccinate:

. pregnant women;

. all children 6 months to 18 years of age;

. household contacts of infants younger than 6 months of age;

. healthcare personnel with direct patient contact

We also have a very limited amount of live attenuated nasal spray
appropriate for healthy persons 3 years to 18 years.

Place: Hanover High School, Cedar Street

Date: Saturday, November 14, 2009

Time: 11:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m.

** Please avoid long sleeved clothing or tight fitting sleeves.

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Hanover Lions Club is having their famous Annual Pancake Breakfast this
coming Sunday, November 15th from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. at the Phoenix
Lodge. If you have not ever attended a Lions event, I am here to tell you
that those guys can cook! Don’t miss the chance to take the whole family.
Adults are $5.00, seniors and children $4.00, and children under 6 are free.

All proceeds are donated to Lions’ charities. Approximately $16,500 has
been donated annually to Hanover scout troops, the Hanover Food Pantry,
veterans and families at Christmas, the Hanover Council on Aging, the
Hanover Visiting Nurse Association, the North River Collaborative, the
Scholastic Awards night at the High School, the South Shore Hospice, and the
Massachusetts Lion Eye Research fund, which annually provides close to $1M
in "seed" money for research into all fields of blindness and eye related
diseases.

A new Comprehensive Permit (40B) Application for "Woodland Village" has been
filed with the Hanover Zoning Board of Appeals. The ZBA has not yet
scheduled a Public Hearing. More information has been posted on-line at
http://www.hanover-ma.gov/woodland-village.shtml .

Wondering what to do with all that leftover Halloween candy? Bring it to
the John Curtis Free Library between November 2nd – 6th! All donated candy
will be sent to our Troops serving overseas!

Doug’s Norwell Clipper, located at 334 Washington Street in Norwell, is
sponsoring a "Cut-A-Thon" on Sunday, November 1st from 10 a.m. – 2 p.m. The
cost is $14 per cut and a portion of the proceeds will go to HYHA.

Friday, November 27, 2009 will be the 5th Annual HHS Alumni Hockey Games.
We have had a great time the past four years pulling together two games
(based on date of graduation). If you would like to play or need additional

The games will be held at the Hobomock Arena at 1:30 p.m. and 2:40 p.m. on

This Sunday, October 25th from 1-4 p.m., The Hanover Historical Society will
open their Fire Museum, Station 5. The museum is located at 1095 Broadway,
South Hanover, near Myette’s Store. You can view Hanover’s original horse
drawn fire wagon and the Hanover Fireworks exhibit, among lots of other
great memorabilia. If you have never been to the Firefighting Museum,
please add it to your "Hanoverian bucket list" and plan to go this weekend.

There will also be a guided trail walk led by the Hanover Open Space
Committee behind the Museum at 1:30 on that same day. Among other
highlights, you will be able to visit the new vernal pool viewing platform.
Refreshments will be served.

The Hanover Foundation for Educational Enrichment congratulates Denise
Savage, the winner of a Nintendo Wii video game console in the HFEE
membership drive. Ms. Savage’s name was drawn by Dr. Kristine Nash, the
Superintendent of the Hanover Schools, on Friday, October 15, 2009 at the
Hanover High School. The following individuals also won $50 gift
certificates to Lucca’s Restaurant in the North End as part of the same
raffle drawing: Deborah Rich, Courtnie Graybill, Maria Courtney and Jessica
Nassif. The Foundation thanks all those who purchased memberships (which
included a free chance) and those who purchased raffle tickets during its
annual membership drive. All proceeds will go toward funding teacher grants
for the 2009-2010 school year.

The HFEE extends an invitation to all residents to attend its November 19,
2009 meeting at the Mill Pond YMCA at 7:30 p.m. Please contact

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Sustainable Hanover is holding a meeting Monday, October 26th, at the
library. The meeting starts at 6:30, and a video will be shown shortly
after that.

Sustainable Hanover is a group of environmentally aware people interested in
improving the ecological health of Hanover through educational programs and
activities, as well as working with other groups, organizations, the
business sector, and our town government.

The group currently works with 18 other South Shore towns as part of
Sustainable South Shore – a Chapter of MCAN (Mass Climate Action Network).
They participate in local events such as Hanover Mall’s Earth Day Festival,
the South Shore Natural Science Center’s Earth Day program, the YMCA’s
Eco-Friendly Family Fun Day, and Hanover Day. They also host nature walks,
recycling events, and educational programs. Volunteers are encouraged to
share their ideas, talents, time, and skills. Feel free to visit them online
