Regular readers of "Around Town on the Web" will remember the story of
Hanover resident and cancer fighter Bill Masse and his family. Bill and
Kathy Masse have 8 children: Kristen, Lauren, Jessica, Jonathan, Mike,
Joshua, Jack and Rob. With special thanks to Debbie O’Neil and Elaine
Rosinski, scores of raffle tickets were sold to benefit his family last
June. It was an amazing show of support.but completely in character for
ATOTW readers! Bill is still fighting his cancer, and he and his family
need our help now more than ever. Below please find a brief update about

The Bill Masse Golf Tournament is a fundraising event for the Masse Family.
Bill Masse has inoperable Pancreatic Cancer and has been battling this
disease for over six months. He has gone through numerous treatments and is
left in a condition where he cannot operate his business and generate a
consistent income for his family. He and his wife Kathy have eight
children, and we are seeking to bless them with funds to help meet their
ongoing needs.

All proceeds, sponsorships, and donations are tax deductible as New Hope
Chapel of Norwell, who is sponsoring the event, is a 501c3 non-profit
organization. All those who donate will be given a statement at the end of
the year detailing your gift and all proceeds from the tournament will be
donated to the Masse Family. Please join us for a great day of golf to help
the Masse Family!

In celebration of the grand opening of Boston Bowl in Hanover, the Hanover
Youth Athletic Association (HYAA) and South Shore Hospital Friends of
Growing Families (SSH) will join together for the First Annual Team for
Dreams Charity Bowling Spree on Saturday, October 24th from 10:00 a.m. –
11:00 p.m. Proceeds will benefit pediatric programs at South Shore Hospital
and the Hanover Youth Athletic Association.

Funds for both non-profit organizations will be raised throughout the day
through a charity bowling spree and a myriad of activities and raffles for
all ages. There will be live entertainment, balloons, a giant moonwalk,
exciting prizes, free food and more! Hanover Police will be on hand to do
children’s fingerprinting. Boston Bowl will donate 100% of bowling fees to
SSH and HYAA.

Bags of Cash for the Boys Club

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The annual "Bags of Cash" raffle and dance to benefit the Hanover Police
Boys Club (HPBC) is November 7, 2009. The Boys Club depends on this event
to raise funds to support the club for the people of Hanover and help to
support the community. HPBC is a non-profit workout facility for everyone
to use and enjoy. The Boys Club supports our students through scholarships,
and has been able to contribute to many community charities. Not only that,
but the HPBC is a great venue for and supporter of the town’s growing Parks
and Recreation program!

Here are the details:

When: November 7, 2009 from 7:00 p.m. to midnight, but you do not need to
be present to win!

Where: Knights of Columbus Hall, 48 Schoosett St., Pembroke

What: Dinner, Dancing, & a Comic

Only 400 tickets will be sold at $100 per ticket, and each ticket allows two
people entrance.

Halalisa Singers concert

The Hanover Cultural Council and Hanover Diversity Committee are pleased to
offer a free community concert with the Halalisa Singers (www.halalisa.org
) on Sunday, November 1st at 3:00 p.m. at St.
Andrew’s Episcopal Church in Hanover.

The Halalisa Singers are the greater Boston area’s premier world music
ensemble. Halalisa is the Zulu word for "celebration", and in that spirit,
the Halalisa repertoire includes African, Latin, American Spiritual, Gospel,
Jewish, Folk and Jazz music. The Halalisa Singers are inspired by the
belief that music is a universal language with the power to uplift and unite
us all.

There will be a social hour with refreshments following the concert. Bring
your family and friends for an uplifting afternoon of music filled with joy,
hope and light. The Diversity Committee also welcomes you to bring along a
nonperishable donation for the Hanover Food Pantry.

HPTA intro meeting

Have you always wondered what the Hanover Parent-Teacher Association was all
about? Here is your chance to find out! Read on.

On behalf of the Hanover PTA Executive Team, we want to cordially invite you
to our first general membership meeting of the school year. The meeting
will take place on Wednesday October 14th at 7:00 p.m., and will be held in
the community conference room at the Hanover Police Headquarters at 129
Rockland Street.

We will be discussing several budget items and hear updates on important
committee events. A raffle of fun items will be held at the conclusion of
the meeting.
