Hanover youngsters support the Food Pantry

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Hanover Emergency Food Pantry is always very grateful for the wonderful
support received throughout the year. Special recognition is however due to
six very hard working youngsters who organized a neighborhood lemonade stand
in order to raise money to help people in need in Hanover. They donated
their entire proceeds because they wanted to make a difference in their
community. The good folks who run the Hanover Food Pantry want to extend
their sincere appreciation to Abby McGillivray, Olivia and John Benevides,
Anna Lyons, and Patrick and Kayla Mullane. Through their efforts, they have
collectively raised $51.88, which will indeed help Hanover families in need.
We are all very touched by the thoughtfulness and generosity of these young
people.

Boston Harbor slide show tour

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Join author Christopher Klein for a slide show tour of Boston Harbor Islands
this Tuesday at the John Curtis Library. Mr. Klein pays tribute to the role
the harbor islands have played in the growth, protection, and culture of
Boston. He includes stories of the countless new Englanders who lived and
toiled on the island shores:

. native Americans who seasonally camped on the islands

. wealthy Bostonians who turned the islands into their own private
playgrounds

. sick and poor incarcerated on the islands during public health
epidemics and

. island-bound prisoners of war.

This program will take place on Tuesday, October 6 at 7:00 p.m. in the
library. There is no charge for admission and refreshments will be served.

HFEE’s save the date

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Back by Popular Demand! The Hanover Foundation for Educational Enrichment
invites residents to mark their calendars and reserve the date of March 27,
2010 for a Night at the Races. This event will take place at the Knights of
Columbus Hall, Route 139 in Pembroke and promises to be an evening of fun
and excitement. HFEE’s South Shore Sampler and Spring Fling events were
extremely successful because of the tremendous response shown by this
community. Save the Date and join us again for another great evening to
support our grants enrichment programs for the benefit of all students in
the Hanover Public Schools.
