What Every Parent Should Know!

Meeting Location: Hanover Middle School (Library), Whiting Street

Presented by: Special Education Attorney, Tim Sindelar

Tim Sindelar is a partner in the Newton law firm, Hilton, Sindelar & Hahn,
where his practice focuses chiefly on special education and other litigation
concerning the rights of children to essential services such as education
and health care and the rights of adults with disabilities to effective
state services and appropriate accommodations. Before entering private
practice, Tim spent nearly 10 years at the Disability Law Center and more
than 15 years working with other legal services programs in 3 states. Tim
has represented hundreds of families in matters before the Bureau of Special
Education Appeals and the state and federal courts on special education
issues. He has also worked with parents groups on legislative and regulatory
issues pertaining to special education and health issues.

This year’s basic rights workshop will include a review of Federal and State
laws – 504 & IDEA, eligibility determination and the IEP process. Attorney
Sindelar will address general questions about the law and what students are
entitled to under its protection.

What is the Hanover Parent Advisory Council?

The PAC is a parent group whose mission is to work toward understanding,
respect, support and appropriate education for all children with learning
differences in our community. The Hanover PAC will provide an opportunity
for parents to network and share information as well as a way to work
constructively with our schools to make them the best they can be for all
children.
