St. Mary of the Portiuncula and Mary Queen of Peace Secular Franciscan
Fraternities extend an invitation to share an hour of Prayer at the
Portiuncula Chapel, Thursday, October 13, 2022, 7:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m., to
celebrate the Sixth Apparition of Our Lady of Fatima. Hear a talk by Fr.
Mike McNamara on the Sixth Apparition followed by a Rosary procession on
the grounds of the Portiuncula Chapel (weather permitting).

Come together to offer thanks and praise to Our Lady, “Queen of the
Angels;” bring a message of hope and peace to those in need of the Lord’s
mercy through this special devotion. As Our Lady promised us at Fatima,
“I will never forsake you, I will not abandon you. My Immaculate Heart
will always be your refuge, your consolation, and the way that will lead
you to God.”

Prayer intentions for October are for those seeking Miracles and for the
salvation of all Souls, for the people of Ukraine, for the Missions of the
World, and for the personal needs and intentions of all in attendance.

PHOENIX LODGE PUBLIC BREAKFAST

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

This Sunday is the Phoenix Lodge Public Breakfast. The Lodge is located at
133 Broadway, at the corner of Broadway and Washington Street (Hanover Four
Corners).

Join them on Sunday, October 9th from 8:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. for what some
folks say is the “best breakfast anywhere”.

Featuring: French toast, pancakes, eggs, corned beef hash, home fries,
breakfast sausage, bacon, fresh fruit and juices, muffins, pastries, toast
and coffee.

Adults – $8.00
Kids under 12 – $4.00
Kids under 5 – FREE

You just can’t beat this price!!!

All of the proceeds from the breakfasts help to support their food pantry
and scholarship programs. Phoenix Lodge regularly donates to the Hanover,
Pembroke, Norwell and Rockland food pantries. They also provide two
scholarships each year to South Shore Regional Vocational Technical High
School.

Child and Adult Book Club at John Curtis Library

Child and Adult Book Club at John Curtis Library

The children’s department is planning to restart a monthly book club for
children ages 9 to 11, accompanied by a parent or other adult
relative/caregiver/companion. This group has run successfully many times
over the years.
The group votes on what book to read each month, choosing from suggestions
made by the children’s librarian and group members. At each meeting there
is discussion of the book, accompanied by snacks.

Book Club will meet one Tuesday evening per month, from 7:00 to 7:45 p.m.
The preliminary meeting is scheduled for Tuesday, October 18, at which time
members will discuss how they wish to run things and choose the first book
to read.

First Friday of the Sacred Heart Devotions

FIRST FRIDAY OF THE SACRED HEART DEVOTIONS

Share an afternoon of honor and praise in the presence of the Lord and
experience the Blessings of First Friday of the Sacred Heart Devotions.
Come and stay for all devotions or for as long as you can stay.
St. Mary of the Portiuncula and Mary Queen of Peace Secular Franciscan
Fraternities extend an invitation to pray together the Sacred Heart
Devotions, which includes Adoration and Benediction of the Blessed
Sacrament, Chaplet of Divine Mercy, recitation of the Rosary, followed by
Stations of the Cross. Also, take the opportunity to go to the Sacrament
of Reconciliation with Fr. Mike McNamara on Chapel grounds from 3:15 p.m. –
5:30 p.m.

Last day to register to vote in the November election

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Hanover Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced that Saturday,
October 29th is the last day to register to vote for the Tuesday, November
8, 2022 State Election. The Hanover Town Clerk’s/Registrar’s Office
will be open until 5:00 p.m. on October 29th, and on-line registration will
be available until 11:59 p.m. that night. Please come to the Town
Clerk’s/Registrar’s side entrance lower level door if you need to
register in person. Read on for on-line registration information!

Any Hanover citizen who will be eighteen on or before November 8th, 2022 is
encouraged to register to vote. Once registered, individuals will be
eligible to vote in all elections thereafter. Further, residents may
“pre-register” to vote if they are age 16 or 17, but they will not be
eligible to vote until they turn 18.

Citizens of Hanover may conveniently register to vote or change their party
status on-line, by mail or in person. The link for on-line registration is

Hispanic Heritage Month story hour

September 15th to October 15th is Hispanic Heritage Month and you can bring
your little ones to celebrate right here in Hanover.

Please join Hanover Unity this Saturday, October 1st, at 3:00 p.m. at the
John Curtis Free Library, 534 Hanover Street. All in attendance will
celebrate Hispanic Heritage Month with a story and crafts hour! All ages
are welcome, craft supplies are included, and the event is free!!

The Hanover Club Welcome Back Social

The Hanover Club Welcome Back Social

Tuesday, September 27 at 7:00 p.m.

The Hanover Club is a women’s community service and social club located in
Hanover, Massachusetts. Whether you are new to town or have lived here for
many years, you are welcome to be a part of our organization. We believe
that among all the different initiatives and committees, The Hanover Club
offers something for everyone.

It Takes a Village! As a community service focused organization, we center
many of our efforts around helping others – within our club, within our
town, and beyond! Through the year we provide meals for new moms, provide
meals and household supplies for families experiencing a bereavement, etc.
We raise money to provide scholarships for graduating seniors for Hanover
residents. The Hanover Club also organizes multiple social events
throughout the year.

All Pro Dad breakfast

All Pro Dad Hanover Breakfast – First one of the school year!
Attention Center Elementary students (grades 2 – 4) and Dads: All Pro Dad
is a monthly gathering where dads get to intentionally engage with their
kids.
There will be a light, complimentary breakfast provided by Chick-fil-A
Hanover, fun activities, and a character-based curriculum that helps dads
start meaningful conversations with their kids.

When: Friday, September 30th, 7:30 a.m. – 8:15 a.m.
Where: Riley Hall building (next to Center Elementary) – 17 Silver Street
Who: Center School students (boy and girls) and their dads (or other
father-like figures)
