Hanover VNA Community Foundation Annual Fund Drive

Dear fellow Hanoverians:
This just in from the good folks at the Hanover VNA Community Foundation!

The annual fund drive sponsored by the Hanover VNA Community Foundation
once again appeals to the community to join in providing guidance and
support to those in need. This cooperative effort relies solely on this
fund drive as its primary source of income.

The Hanover VNA Community Foundation is comprised of a dedicated board of
volunteers who work closely with the Hanover VNA, which consists of
visiting nurses who provide medical care and oversee the wellness of
Hanover residents. The Foundation also sponsors several programs in
conjunction with the Police and Fire Departments.

Every year the Foundation awards scholarships to Hanover High school
graduates planning careers in nursing and allied professions. In
addition, they continue to support Hanover Parks and Recreation Department
by funding camperships for Hanover children (27 in the summer of 2019).

During the holiday seasons of Thanksgiving and Christmas, the members of
the Hanover VNA Community Foundation, working closely with the Hanover VNA,
the Hanover Police, the Hanover Schools and several churches and
organizations, reach out to families who need their support. Food items,
gift certificates and toys are offered, hoping to alleviate some of the
stress many may be experiencing.

Emergency assistance is also provided throughout the year to residents of
Hanover who have financial difficulties due to unforeseen circumstances,
resulting in the inability to obtain food, clothing and other necessities
needed for themselves and their families. They try to help, especially
when other means of assistance are unavailable.

Although the main thrust of the Hanover VNA Community Foundation is to
reach out throughout the year to residents in need, they do hold an annual
Open Meeting. All in the community are invited to attend and expand their
knowledge of current issues affecting their well-being. One of the
committees under their “umbrella” researches and arranges for guest
speakers to present at the Open Meeting. This year, Dr. Monarch, an
authority on Lyme disease and its far reaching effects was the guest
speaker. Over 100 people attended! The HVNA looks forward to their
coming Open Meeting this Spring!

The HVNA is most appreciative of the past generosity of the Hanover
residents, businesses, churches, organizations and schools who help make
all of this possible, and hope that you will join them in making the 2019
Fund Drive a success.

The Hanover VNA Community Foundation thanks you for your continued support,
past and present.

With gratitude,
Josephine Koelsch, President
Hanover VNA Community Foundation, Inc.

The Hanover VNA Community Foundation is designated by the IRS as a 501©

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

This came across my desk today (Thursday as I write this) and since it was
sent to “all Hanover staff”, I decided to forward it to all of you…the
rest of Hanover! It’s a really important job in the town, and it impacts so
many people, hence the forward. Audrey Barresi, you will be sorely missed!

Free Coffee Break Concert Series

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

South Shore Conservatory (SSC) announces a new Coffee Break Concert Series
(CBCS) at its satellite location at Laura’s Center for the Arts (LCA), 97
Mill Street in Hanover. Performances will be the second Wednesday of the
month, October through April, starting October 9. The series is
underwritten by Diane and Gary Glick, and all performances are free.

“We are very excited to offer our Coffee Break Concert Series at
Laura’s Center for the Arts in Hanover, as part of a new partnership with
the South Shore YMCA. The Laura’s Center space is perfect for this
event’s combination of performance and socialization,” says Beth
MacLeod Largent, SSC Director of Performance. “Our Duxbury CBCS
performances are often standing room only.”

Starting with “Music from the Movies” on October 9, all CBCS performances
have an education component, as faculty members share the background behind
their selections to help the audience understand a piece more deeply.
Casual in nature with a “come as you are” intimate atmosphere, these free
11:00 a.m. performances include complimentary coffee, tea, water, light
snacks and fruit to enjoy during the concert.

Music from the Movies, which features SSC educator/performers Holly
Jennings, voice; Sarah Troxler, piano; and Jesse Stiglich, percussion,
showcases beloved favorites such as I Could Have Danced All Night, Ten
Minutes Ago, When I Marry Mr. Snow, and If I Were a Bell.

Most Coffee Break Concert Series performances, which, until now, had been
offered only at SSC’s Duxbury campus, have been standing room only.
Audience members are therefore encouraged to arrive at 10:30 a.m. for the
11:00 a.m. concert. Performances are one hour in length without
intermission. After the performance, audience members are invited to stay,
meet the performers and enjoy complimentary coffee, tea and breakfast
treats. If they prefer, concertgoers may bring their own bag lunch.

Other CBCS performances at Laura’s Center for the Arts include Jazz on
November 13, Holiday Favorites on December 11, Music of the Beatles on
February 12, Music of Franz Schubert on March 11, and Piano Four Hands on
April 8.

South Shore Conservatory is committed to being an organization that
welcomes the widest range of audience members possible – removing barriers
to participation and welcoming everyone in, regardless of ability.
Laura’s Center for the Arts is wheelchair accessible. For more detailed
information about accessibility, please visit SSC’s Know Before You Go
page.

Seating for CBCS performances is limited. To reserve a table for your
group, call or e-mail Beth MacLeod Largent, Director of Performance,
781-421-6162, x204, b.macleodlargent@sscmusic.org . To learn more about SSC
programs and performances, visit www.sscmusic.org or find South Shore
Conservatory on Facebook.
