Dedication of “Single Path” at Lutheran Church of the Cross

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The Lutheran Church of the Cross will hold a special dedication for the
“Single Path” on Sunday, June 30th, at 11:00 a.m. This dedication will
celebrate the work of Boy Scout Troop 38 on the new access trail to the
Hanover Trail system and honor Pastor Single’s family and legacy at the
Church. Pastor Single was a long time Pastor at Lutheran Church of the
Cross, admired by many and was known for regularly walking this “Single
Path” from his home to the church with the assistance of his seeing-eye
dog, Duchess.

Open Space Committee members will be available to give tours of the new
trail and Pastor Single’s family will be present to speak about Pastor
Single and this project.

After the dedication, all are invited for refreshments, hamburgers and hot
dogs.

The morning worship service begins at 9:00 am and all are welcome to attend
as well.

Please help The Lutheran Church of the Cross celebrate the day and join
them in this joyful dedication! For more information, please contact
Kristina at kristinalyttle@comcast.net .

Applications are now being accepted for election workers

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier announced today that the Town of
Hanover is recruiting election workers for the upcoming busy March 2020
Presidential Primary and May 2020 Annual Town Election. There are two
positions available: “Inspectors” – the folks who check voters in and out
and attend the ballot boxes all day long, and “Tellers” – the folks who
come in at the end of the day and help to process and count ballots,
especially write-in and overseas ballots.

Next year’s elections will be held on Tuesday, March 3rd and Saturday, May
9, 2020; check your calendar and see if you are free! Training is
mandatory and will be provided ahead of time, too. Election workers are
among the most outstanding people in town – they work hard to ensure
election laws are upheld and procedures are followed, all while having fun
and literally delivering democracy to the residents of Hanover. Join the
team of Hanover election workers – it will be among the most rewarding and
patriotic work you have ever done.

The two employment announcements are posted here:
https://www.hanover-ma.gov/personnel/pages/current-employment-opportunities
. The job application is posted here:
https://www.hanover-ma.gov/sites/hanoverma/files/uploads/7-9-18_-_application_for_employment_for_website.pdf
.

Applications will be accepted in the Selectmen’s Office until Monday, July
8th, 2019. For more information about the position, please e-mail Hanover
Town Clerk Catherine Harder-Bernier at
catherine.harderbernier@hanover-ma.gov . For more information about the
application process, please e-mail Ann Lee at ann.lee@hanover-ma.gov .

Summer reading kickoff at John Curtis Library

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

The children’s summer reading program at the John Curtis Library will get
underway on Monday, July 1 at 11:00 a.m. with a magic show by Scott

music, juggling and plenty of humor.

Registration for summer reading will begin right after the show. Children
will receive reading logs on which to record their reading time and earn
prizes throughout the summer.

This program is supported by a grant from the Hanover Cultural Council, a
local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a
state agency. Please register for the magic show from the Calendar section
of the library’s website, www.hanovermass.com/library. For more
information, call 781-826-272, extension 4, or email the children’s

Hanover Crossing (Hanover Mall) update

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

I thought you would appreciate an update regarding the Hanover Crossing
(former Hanover Mall) plans.

As you may recall, this winter, the Zoning Board of Appeals approved the
variances sought by PREP for: a variance from Hanover Zoning Bylaws Section
6.11.20.H from the thirty-five foot (35’) height and Section 7.110 three
story height to allow for a fifty-three feet (53 ft.) four story multi-unit
residential building, and a variance for the rate of development from 1.5%
per year to build all 297 units as a single comprehensive development.
That decision has been appealed.

In the meantime, Hanover Crossing (Hanover Mall), submitted applications to
the Planning Board on May 30th for Special Permit and Site Plan approval.
There will be a public hearing regarding these applications on July 1st at
7:00 p.m. at the Hanover High School media room. All are invited to
attend. Further, the town has set up a special page on the town’s website,
found here: https://www.hanover-ma.gov/hanover-crossing .

For more information, please contact Community Development and Municipal
Inspections Director Justin DeBruin at justin.debruin@hanover-ma.gov .
