Dear fellow Hanoverians:
On Saturday, December 18, the School Committee met with administrators
regarding the FY ’12 budget. In preparing for this meeting, the school
committee directed the administration to prepare its fourth straight year of
a level funded budget of $23,132,796, which in order to meet contractual
obligations translates into an almost $2.0 million dollar cut, offset by a
one-time deferred federal grant for education jobs of $368,725, for a net
reduction of over $1.6 million dollars.
There are two important budget meetings that are coming up in the next week
that you may be interested in attending. I encourage you to attend to get
updated information, and hear the budget discussions from our town leaders:
TONIGHT, January 5th, 7:00 p.m., School Committee, Salmond School
January 10th, 7:00 p.m., School Committee/Selectman, Town Hall
Potential Budget cuts:
