Beyond the Classroom: An Exhibition of Original Works by South Shore Art Educators

Dear fellow Hanoverians:

Come celebrate the artwork of South Shore art teachers! The John
Curtis Free Library (Hanover) will host /Beyond the Classroom: An
Exhibition of Original Works by South Shore Art Educators /from August
30 until September 29, 2011.

Many art teachers will participate from towns including Abington,
Avon, Rockland, Hull, Cohasset, Scituate, Hanover, Marshfield,
Pembroke, Duxbury, Hingham, and Plymouth. Artwork will be in many
types of media from sculptures to prints to paintings.

This is not a traditional juried art show; however, a panel of judges
will be selecting pieces for honor awards in two categories: Best in
the Show (1 award) and Judge’s Choice (3 awards). The panel of judges
includes Kathy Soles (artist, MFA, painting), Lisa Doyle-Bates (owner,
Fernwood Gallery), and Dave Petty (owner, The Frame Center and the
Nathan Gallery).

This event is FREE and open to the public in the large meeting room on
the ground floor of the library. The Opening Reception will be held on
Tuesday, August 30th from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the John Curtis Free
Library in Hanover. Honor awards will be announced at 7:00 p.m. at the
Opening Reception. All are cordially invited to attend and see what
our local art teachers are creating.

This event is organized by Alison Palmucci (elementary art teacher,
Cedar School, Hanover), Karen Cass (private instructor, Hanover), and
Tracy Marchetti (Hanover resident and Chair of the Friends of the John
Curtis Free Library). It is supported by a grant from the
Massachusetts Cultural Council through the Hanover Cultural Council.
