Dear fellow Hanoverians:
Generally speaking, “Around Town on the Web” webmaster and Hanover
resident Mike Van Lare is a pretty unassuming guy. He is sort of like
a software security scanner…he runs in the background, and you
don’t ever notice him or need him until there is a problem. Three
years ago Mike responded to an ATOTW e-mail I sent that mentioned some
technical difficulties I was having and he volunteered his services.
Since then, ATOTW (read: Mike Van Lare) has established a website,
archives, unprecedented capacity, and migrated us over to some
software that makes this writer’s job practically effortless. I
cannot say enough about how much I value his efforts and service to
ATOTW and therefore to all of you, dear readers. Trust me when I say
that ATOTW would have simply folded without him!
All of that being said, I am proud to announce that our very own
Michael Van Lare has been nominated for an international Information
Technology (IT) award because of his IT expertise in his day job with
Starwood Hotels! The award is called the Windows IT Pro “System
Administrator of the Year,” and Mike has already made the list of
the top ten nominees (no surprise here!). Please join me in supporting
